The Thread Where We Discuss Golf

The Open starts on Thursday then chaps.

Got my usual Fowler bet on, as well as each way bets on Pieters, Schwartzel, Noren and Leishman.

Would love to see Rickie finally get his major. He has won over here before and likes the links courses so we'll see. I do think when he does win, it'll be from a few shots back on the Sunday as opposed to leading and being in the final group. It's not clear to see but the fact he hasn't won one and a lot of the other players of his generation have, it seems to get to him especially if he's winning going into the last 18 holes.

Wouldn't be betting on Rory this week. Just not worth it at 18/1. He's missed cuts in the last few weeks and can't settle on a new putter.

And while I didn't bet him, Adam Scott is always a decent shout. Can quietly go about his first few rounds and then be up there by Sunday. Depends how well he's hitting them off the tee.

Feels a bit like a match play situation with Spieth and Kuchar here. Mistakes from Spieth early on mean the gap is just one now, although both have work to do for Par at the 4th.

Edit: Another bogey for Spieth and a great bunker shot from Kuch to save par means they're level at -8.
