The Summer Transfer Window Thread 2014/15

£64m, you say? That would take United's net summer spending to about £137m (other figures taken from Transfermarkt). Even Chelsea haven't had that big a net (annual) spend since 2004/05.

Pretty sure this comes down to your favorite "64m euros was quoted, LET'S SAY POUNDS)

Actually it lines up better with the 75m figure that was being banded around earlier (originally as £75m), which works out in euros as the following:

from ESPN:

Manchester United have reached a deal with Real Madrid for Angel Di Maria. United will pay €75 million [£59.9m] up front with €15m [£12m] in add-ons, which are split in three payments of €5m [£4m].

It's be pretty funny if that's the actual fee agreed.

Because United are doing exactly what Man City did a few years back and were absolutely hammered for.

Manchester United, buying success, uh... ruining football um...

...Getting back to where they rightly belong! Yeah!

Paris is a fucking shithole.

And I wasn't saying he's turned down PSG for Liverpool, I'm saying it's the move that makes the most sense now that the deal has collapsed.

Really? United are the other option if reports are to be believed and if the two both fell through there's more chance he'd stay at Madrid considering Ancelotti seemingly wants him to stick around. Can't for one minute see you paying the massive fee Madrid are asking for or the massive wages he's asking for. Hasn't been a single link with him to Liverpool.

I don't even know where to begin with this. Everyone United are chasing cannot distance themselves quickly enough, there's no way both he and Isco are sticking around with Kroos and James coming in, the reported signing is £65m so it's gonna be a huge name, and Rickie Lambert practically had his foot in Melwood before any of the press (friendly journos included) caught wind of it.

di Maria sure did distance himself from United

Well Bale would have been at the start of Moyes reign before he'd had chance to balls it up. The other three would have been this summer with van Gaal in charge.

Spurs would have demanded even more money for Bale from Utd. than what they got from Real, though. It was never really realistic.

Di Maria although a great player shouldn't be Ubited's priority when they've still got a piss poor defence. Unless Di Maria is gonna play wingback they still need atleast another centre back and a box to box midfielder.

Won't happen.

I heard there were strong rumours a 10th signing would be announced today based off of Pardew giving it large to his pal Colin after the match yesterday. Definitely see this as just more smoke, can't see Ashely paying the price for Welbeck.
