I'd definitely sell at that price though, it's very inflated. Could see Thiago Silva going to Barca now unless the plan was to team them up but that'd leave Marquinhos out in the lurch. Love the big fuck you to Financial Fairplay too!

Difficult to be precise about anything, but we were already complying with FFP even before all of this so we're in a very good situation.

(Because of the way the FFP accounting is done, the "income" for the sold players will appear on the books as an immediate lump sum, whereas the "expenditure" for signed players like Matic or Salah will be amortised over the life of their contracts, i.e. typically 1/5th of their transfer fee each year if they're on a 5 year contract.)

If Luiz is going for £48m, then the contribution he pays to our FFP balance will be roughly £36.5m (details here).
