Nigeria were not the African nation I had pegged to advance, they weren't even my 2nd choice.

I always thought they had a decent shout. They're probably similarly in level to Ghana and Cameroon but they have a far more sympathetic group.

Yeah, there was only really Argentina to worry about in that group, I had them to make the second round.

I think Ghana are a step up from Nigeria/Cameroon, but Ghana have a deadly group. And Cote d'Ivoire are pretty safe to make it still, who I imagine were most peoples first African choice to advance. Nigeria were probably my third, but that was when I thought Ghana was beating the US.

Nigeria's offense had seemed pretty anemic for a while going into today's game. I'd put them below Ivory Coast and Ghana for sure, but they definitely do have an easier group than either. It's cool that two African teams are now in pretty good position to reach the round of sixteen.
