West Ham manager Sam Allardyce retains the backing of the club's owners despite the humiliating League Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester City. BBC Sport has learned that David Gold and David Sullivan were not swayed by the result at the Etihad, despite large sections of the travelling support appearing to turn on the manager. West Ham continue to work hard in the transfer market and are hopeful of adding two or three new players in the coming days. The first arrival could yet be Monaco striker Lacina Traore, who could arrive on loan if he is granted a work permit at a hearing next Monday.

As much as it was a trouncing, is it really humiliating? Man City are one of the strongest teams in the league with a terrifying home form.
