Looks like we're wearing hooped socks with the home kit. The home is alright, I'd have preferred us to stay with the all white but nevermind. Away kit (light blue) I'm not too fond of, but my first reactions to the third kit are positive. Hopefully we end up wearing that more than the light blue ¬_¬

Thoughts on the season? For me, the phrase 'mixed bag' springs to mind.

Is it unlucky for Spurs to wear a new kit on last day of season?

Money talks, but it don't sing and dance, and it don't walk - so sang Neil Diamond. And the big man couldn't have been any clearer had he dedicated those words to yesterday's Tottenham performance against Liverpool.

Our 2-0 defeat at the hands of Rafa Benitez's men was a painful one because it was our last game of the season, our last home game of the season, and you really ought to be going out with all guns blazing as the campaign ends.

But here's a thought - did our guns backfire because of the sickening attempts by the board to fleece as much money out of the fans as possible? Was making the team wear next season's kit, while still playing a fixture this season, a cursed stroke?

Money did talk, in volumes, but not where it counted on the pitch, it was in the stands where us fans were on the receiving end. I don't know of any other side who do it, but Tottenham make a habit of ending the year playing in whatever new strip they are

selling for the forthcoming season. It's wrong, it's just plain wrong, and it's just a cynical attempt to wring as much cash out of their loyal supporters as possible.

And I really think it has to bring bad luck to a team. We've played one game in our new outfits, and we've lost it. What a way to start!

Every seat yesterday at White Hart Lane was adorned with a brochure for the new kits. Not only is that a massive environmental waste, cos most of them will have just been binned, you'd think the Club would have better things to do on the last day of the season. After all, season ticket renewals aren't due out until today so perhaps we've a sting in the tail still to come.

What would be so wrong in celebrating the end of the campaign by giving all the fans inside WHL yesterday a free gift? All we had was one stupid draw for one free season ticket. It was such a hot day, why not just give out free bottles of water? It's not much of a cost to Tottenham Hotspur PLC but I'd appreciate the goodwill.

Instead I found the seat I had paid my own hard-earned money for had been turned into an advertisement hoarding for the new strips by Puma. I - and I'm sure there's thousands like me - don't need that shoved down our throats.

I'm not a parent but I'd imagine there was a fair few kids at the Lane yesterday begging their mums and dads for a new shirt after seeing it on the pitch and in the brochure left on their seat. This is where commercialism in football crosses the line and it should be stamped out.

Whether or not wearing the new kit is unlucky, and I think it is, the players should be ending their season dressed how they started it. Their shirts should then be thrown into the crowd. This year there was none of that.

All we got during the parade after the final whistle was a load balls. And I've already seen far too much of that during season 2007/08 at White Hart Lane for my liking.

PS: I blooming hate those socks!

What do you think? Was it bad luck to wear the new strip? Do you hate the way commercialism marred our final match? Post a comment below...

Interesting. Final note - O'Hara signs contract extension till 2011 and Tommy Huddlestone has received his first sneior England call-up. Good news all around really.

Middlesbrough wore their new home kit and won 8-1. We wore our 2007/08 home kit on the last day of the 2006/07 season and beat Man City 2-1. It's not unlucky, we lost to Liverpool because we can't be arsed. There's been nothing to play for for several weeks and it's shown in our results.

Spurs looked good in the 5-1 win at Norwich tonight, it was live on Setanta. Bent got 4 goals and okay it was only against Norwich but his finishing was top notch. Also, Benoit Assou-Ekotto's cross for the third (I think) was sublime. King was a bit rusty as expected, so was Bale but then again it was his first proper match all year. He got one hell of a reception when he came on, more noise than for any of our goals. And may I say, Giovani Dos Santos looks very, very good.
