The Kraig
All Blacks have some incredible momentum after these last two games especially. Argentina being the only country to win the football and rugby World Cups in the same year is now a distant idea.

Missing the opportunity to win on home soil when they were arguably favourites will be a big setback to get over. Late reply, but I still think France wouldn't miss the final if it weren't for all their injuries to top players. I know those are part of the game, and nobody was 100%, but I feel they were affected the most. Having said that, I had NZ vs SA in my poll (before the World cup started), because even when I feel someone is talented enough to be successful I still don't trust my gut until I see some consistency. Same reason I wouldn't pick Ireland if my life depended on it, regardless of how good the team might have looked on paper.

lanky316
Can't complain with that, it's not been pretty but it doesn't need to be. I still fear South Africa going up several gears in the second half but we've got something to hang on to which I wasn't anticipating. Bobfoc
Even if South Africa run away with it in the second half, at least England gave it a good go.
lanky316
That hurts in the end. It still wasn't pretty but after all that giving away a silly penalty late on to be edged out. Fair play to them though, it was ugly stuff but the big thing in the end I think was not really reacting to their changes, especially around the pack as the number of penalties involving the scrums was our one area of ill discipline. Bobfoc
England can hold their heads high, at least. On recent form, that should have been a thrashing, but they got their tactics almost spot on.
Bobfoc
As entertaining as New Zealand v South Africa should be, it's the most boring outcome as far as sentiment goes. Out of the ten World Cups that have taken place, seven of them, and the last five in a row, will have been won by either of those two countries. For as close as the matches have been, it's a bit disappointing to see the status quo maintained.

The one good thing is that both have been beaten in the tournament so far and they've had some seriously close games, and well-fought wins. It does feel deserved for both teams, which is what you want in the final.
Bobfoc
It's certainly deserved because they won the decisive matches, but it still feels like a bit of an anticlimax for such an open competition. I think we'll look back on this tournament as a really exciting one, but I can't help but feel that it would have a more special place in history if we saw a first-time winner. Cymbols
Pretty fascinating final that. Enjoyed it, and a decent tournament on the whole.
The Kraig
That did not go down well with my Kiwi pals. They're questioning a lot of the referee decisions, as you'd expect, but it was a messy game and watching it live I had no issues with the calls. Hard game to referee. They seem specifically hung up on the call not to red card Kolisi, but you can see the point of contact in the replay, so I feel like arguing for common sense might get me strung up. I feel for Jordie Barrett. He'll be kicking himself. Despite the cards and drama, we still got some flashes of brilliant rugby. The final did not live up to the expectations though, for me anyway. lanky316
I think it was mainly ill discipline from New Zealand that ultimately was the difference. A couple of fringe calls maybe against them but for the most part I felt like it was their own fault. Some good rugby in there and they fought well and could have just edged it on the second half but a poor first half left them with a mountain to climb. Cymbols
In non World Cup business, the Dragons won their first home game in 385 days tonight against a full strength Ospreys side with their World Cup players back. Cymbols
Don’t blame him. Welsh rugby is in free fall. Get out, try make that $$. Return as the great hero if it doesn’t work out. Our Six Nations squad is the weakest one I think I’ve ever seen. It won’t be pretty.
