They also still want Leon on the card, and have asked him to fly to America this afternoon, for a fight which might not happen, in a location that could be anywhere. And obviously if he says no, they’ll do him no favours in terms of promoting him as a contender. Not that they do that now.

Even if he does come over, what are the chances he'll be able to go back to his family after the fight? This is just absolutely atrocious from the UFC. It's just such a glaring hole in sports that they are the only non-unionized major sports league that has not suspended their activities. This is an email they are sending out to managers and reps about this new card next week. As you can see, they are even open to signing fighters who currently aren’t on the roster to fill it up, as well. pic.twitter.com/qYcYCDvdyo — Ariel Helwani (@arielhelwani) March 15, 2020 I mean, it's almost B-grade movie villain evil, right? Cymbols
With family in mind, Leon isn’t travelling. The only original fighters still on the card are Kevin Holland and Marvin Vettori. A couple of others, like Woodley, de Freitas, and Benítez are unknown. But certainly the rest of the Europeans are out.
Chris2K
Dana just needs to let it go. Every other sports league/organisation has gone on hold, and yet he's trying to pretend that nothing is wrong. The utter selfishness is mind-boggling. Gazz
I mean, it's like like fighters are in training camps, exercising and weight cutting to a level of immunosupression.
Cymbols
The maddest bastard Graham Boylan is getting in on it. Cage Warriors London is going ahead behind closed doors, and will feature at least one of the UFC London fights - with the potential for more. Vince hasn't announced that WWE are cancelling events and especially Wrestlemania yet, right? Maybe they're both just waiting for one or the other to blink first, because they're both the realest guys in the room or whatever.
Chris2K
Which is even more bizarre given that the XFL was one of the first leagues to be put on hold. Both UFC and WWE's main money-maker from these events is gate receipts, which they are going to have to refund either way, so running the shows at a loss when everyone thinks they shouldn't is just strange. Benjamin
I'm pretty sure their main money makers now are the deals WWE is getting from USA and Fox, and for UFC it's most definitely that crazy deal they got from Disney, right? Chris2K
Sorry, I meant the main money-makers specifically for WrestleMania/UFC London shows are the gate receipts. The money they've got from those deals is already in the bank.
Cymbols
Not sure about that. Ad revenue is likely a lot higher. Sounds like Endeavour are really pushing the UFC to carry on, and the UFC bosses meanwhile, see this as a way to become mainstream, thinking that more people will watch by virtue of nothing else being on.
Benjamin
Yeah, I think that’s one reason they went on ESPN last week instead of being on ESPN+. Also Endeavour’s other sporting venture, the PBR, also still hasn’t suspended sporting activities, so it definitely looks like UFC won’t stop until there’s a federal lockdown or something. Then maybe they’ll go to Nicaragua or something and put in fights.
Cymbols
Next three UFC events cancelled
Gazz
Dana has said that the Khabib / Ferguson fight is still going ahead and that the commissions are 'wimps' for wanting to cancel the show. Can't wait for this cunt to get fired.
Benjamin
Who, Dana? He's still a minority owner and the face of the company, he'll just tender his "resignation" and be quietly bought out if they ever want to really get rid of him. Endeavor seem like a real piece of shit company because the last I heard they were still running PBR events, too, so it's not like they're paragons of virtue. Cymbols
Part of the reason the UFC is so keen to keep their shitshow going
Benjamin
Gotta' help those poor shareholders in this time of need for them. I mean, they only got a pittance when they drained the UFC cash reserves last month, only $300 USD, right?
Cymbols
Jon Jones got arrested for driving under the influence and for negligent use of a firearm last night.
Benjamin
This is incredible. By the way, he was arrested for a DWI, AT 11AM. The POS was still drunk at 11 in the morning during a global pandemic. Gazz
1am. Still, it's reassurring to know that some things remain unchanged from the pre-COVID era.
