In sadder news, Randy Couture felt funny whilst working out, walked himself to hospital, and is now in intensive care as it was a heart attack.

Just to clarify, he had a damn heart attack and WALKED TO HOSPITAL. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The whole BMF title stuff is fucking stupid anyways. Could not care less if the fight is axed.

Apparently Birmingham’s Leon Edwards has been paid to go through camp as a replacement if needed. He was the one that should’ve been fighting Masvidal anyways - but just watch and wait for Jorge to weasel his way out.

Out of the 86 tests that have been positive (out of the 11K+ tests in total), around 30% are a result of tainted supplements. If you think there are only 50 fighters out there (and not even that because some of them are repeat offenders) are cheating then I don't know what to tell you. USADA's just a PR band aid fix for the UFC.

Fans don't really give a shit, though, they'll label every fighter cheats before thinking about the exact events were. It's why Romero and O'Malley still get stuck with that stupid label.

You say that, till Mr. 'I only eat whole foods' pops a T/E ratio so high it would make a eunuch grow new balls.

He didn't, though? From USADA's statement he was found with traces amount of SARM, which weren't even high enough to get him a provisional suspension. Where are you getting this?

The real story is that somebody at the UFC or USADA asked Nate to keep quiet about it until after the fight, which definitely sounds like they're levelling the playing field :/

That's the nature of drug testing though. By it's very definition, it can only be a reactive process. You can't ban a substance as performance enhancing till it can be proved that 1. it's being used on a big enough scale to make financial sense to investigate it, 2. it's actually performance enhancing and 3. it can be detected in a highly reliable fashion.

That's a PhD level project right there. Four years. For one substance. By the time the investigation is complete, everyone might have moved onto something else because it's more effective / cheaper / more available / easier to mask / breaks down into something legal, so banning that substance is basically pointless.

And don't even get me started on how these substances can effect each other to produce a completely different compound.

Greg Hardy's MMA career has been a master class in cheating

Quote

So, to review, the two MMA fights to date that Hardy hasn’t won are also the only fights of his to go past the halfway mark of the first round. Both times, when Hardy started to face adversity, through his cardio starting to fail him, his opponent finding success or both, Hardy immediately cheated in the most flagrant ways possible. Both times, it was that decision that cost him the fight. The only difference between the two is that the latest such incident doesn’t present as obvious a straight line to his public personal failings in the way that “throwing the most flagrant possible illegal knee because his opponent dared to start winning and taunt him” did. Is there really any reason to doubt that Inhalergate was a more calculated version of the illegal knee from nine months ago?

Quote

MMAFighting’s Mike Chiappetta column “In latest Greg Hardy controversy, he may actually be a victim” is the most egregious in a surprisingly crowded field; the headline aside, Chiapetta bookends his story with an odious comparison to Hardy beating the shit out of his then-girlfriend. After numerous peers and readers complained about the column, Chiappetta doubled down in a follow-up tweet. Here as throughout Hardy’s MMA career, his present mediocrity and persistent refusal to play by the same rules as everyone else becomes a secondary element in stories that are reliably about something else, even if that “something else” is his past fame and infamy in the NFL.

So we’re complaining when USADA ping fighters, then complaining when USADA clear fighters? Got it.

This Singapore card has been sneakily good by the way. Big wins for Gane, Dariush, and Stevie Ray. Love it. Stacked Cage Warriors card this evening too, fun day of fights. Fuck the circus elsewhere.
