So what are your top movies?

Recommended Posts

Will edit more in later:

Central Station

The Orphanage

Pan's Labyrinth

Monsters Inc

Mary Poppins

Thank You For Smoking

Cool Runnings

The Goonies

Office Space

Mean Girls

How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days

None of them are "omgz the best film ever", but I'd be able to watch each and every one of them about a billion times.

The Departed

Fight Club

Happy Gilmore

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Air Force One

Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade

Smoking Aces

The Matrix

Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

In no order at all and with a mix of films that I do consider great films with sme that I just realy bloody enjoy:

Pulp Fiction

Fight Club

American Beauty

Serenity

Star Trek: First Contact

American Psycho

Die Hard

Anchorman

Airplane!

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Battle Royale

American History X

Sin City

A Few Good Men

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Good Night, and Good Luck

L A Confidential

The Long Good Friday

Then there's films which are brilliant, but I didn't include cos I just couldn't stick them in anytime. I'd need to be in the mood and watch them now and again, like For a few Dollars More and The Good The Bad and The Ugly and Goodfellas.

I KNOW I'm forgetting a fair few off my list. Curse relying to this away from my DVD collection!

Amelie is brilliant, it does what people say about The Godfather that isn't true - that every shot is perfectly framed, and could be a fantastic standalone image in its own right. Or near enough.

Here are some of mine;

Night Of The Hunter

Withnail & I

Brazil

Dolls

My Neighbour Totoro

Hana-Bi

Identity

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

High Fidelity

Good Night & Good Luck

Eraserhead

No particular order:

-Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (I could probably should put all of them here, but this one tops out my favorite movie ever made list.)

-Seven Samurai

-Hero

-Kingdom of Heaven

-Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan

-Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

-Star Trek: Generations

-Star Trek: Nemesis

-Fast Times at Ridgemont High

-Clerks

-Troy

-The Last Samurai

-The Transporter Series (each one gets constantly better)

-Back to the Future

-Sin City

-300 (Has to be the ultimate man movie.)

-Bang Ra Jan (I need to check the spelling on this. Makes my top 5. Terrific action and character depth.)

-Smockin' Aces

-Ready To Rumble

-School of Rock

-Patton

I am sure I could a whole fuck ton of others, but this is all that comes to mind right now.

Hopefully covering most of my favourites at least:

The Commitments

Rocky Horror Picture Show

Bugsy Malone

Big Fish

Starship Troopers

Gladiator

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (if I had to chose a film from the triology)

Rocky and Rocky 3 (the others are all good, but these two are far and away the best)

Big Trouble In Little China

Strangers On A Train

Psycho

Foriegn Language

Infernal Affairs

Downfall

Pan's Labyrinth

Cinema Paradiso

Life Is Beautiful

Audition

Comedy

Liar Liar (one more from my childhood than anything)

South Park The Movie

The Big Lebowski

Blazing Saddles

Wayne's World

Animated

Toy Story

Aladdin

The Lion King

I dunno why, but I felt like categorizing the last three....I guess because I see sufficient difference in either style or genre that I feel they can be viewed standalone (as in, I wouldn't consider Liar Liar as the greatest film I've ever seen, but looking as a comedy, I really like it)

EDIT: Stuff I picked off other peoples list that would be pushing to be included:

High Fidelity

Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory (original)

Love Actually

Pulp Fiction

Battle Royale

Trainspotting

Snatch

28 Days Later

Memento

Back To The Future

Jurassic Park

A Clockwork Orange

Thank You For Smoking
