Iffy on that trade. If Versteeg was just the product of playing on a deep forward core, you better hope that Sweatt plays like he does in EHM otherwise the Leafs lost big time.

The Flyers announced Wednesday they have re-signed Michael Leighton to a two-year, $3.1 million contract.

I like it.

Stalberg can step in and fill an NHL spot without the cap hit of Versteeg, and DiDomenico is a very good prospect on the wing. I could see him putting up the same kind of numbers as Versteeg in the future.

For the Leafs, they can part with DiDomenico because they don't need his numbers in the future, they need them now, and Versteeg will provide that for now, and is still a very young player with many years ahead of him barring injury. Sweatt is fresh out of College and should be making an impact with the Marlies. If he can hold up for an enitre 80 game AHL season, then he should be on the Leafs roster by the 11/12 campaign.

Good deal for both teams, addressing the needs of both clubs.
