Because that's their outlet. Look at a guy like Christopher Titus, had an incredibly fucked up life that involved his mother killing a man and eventually committing suicide. How does he cope? He tells the story to an audience of people. Just because someone is funny, it doesn't mean they're some bouncy, care-free dude. They're just as fucked up as the rest of us, they just know how to make it entertaining.
