True. It depends on which toe, of course, but you can run and shit with a broken toe, you can't really with a fucked ankle.

Plus, you can fuck the ankle up worse, while the toe isn't actually gonna get much worse. Beckham has stated that he's more worried about being out longer than anything else.

Exactly, if he rushed back and jumped straight into a match - all it'd take is one tackle to aggrevate the ankle again - and the injury would be worse the second time - and he'd be out a lot longer.
