Oh

shit

me

Square-Enix' E3 gift of a Final Fantasy VII PSN release was gratefully received, but if you'd asked us what PS1 games we'd like to see next from the publishers, Final Fantasy Tactics would be near the bottom of our list. Somewhere under Chocobo Racing and Ehrgeiz, to be exact. It's not that we dislike the game -- far from it -- it's just that we've played it recently on our PSPs with improved cutscenes and vastly superior translation. The idea of releasing the old "Spoony Bard" version on PSN instead of Final Fantasy VIII or IX doesn't exactly thrill us.

But it looks like that's what will be happening as the ESRB has rated the game for both the PS3 and PSP, meaning we could see it pop on the American PSN store at any moment.

Joystiq PS3. Fuck. Yes. Seriously, I will steal a freakin' credit card just to get Tactics on the PS3. I'm tired of having to play it on my PC because Tactics discs can be so fuck-off retarded expensive. This is awesome.

Bah, the retranslated version is just a superior tactical game with a hackneyed story and bland characters. The old version is a superior tactical game with a hackneyed story and bland characters who say hilariously stupid shit like "Life is short... Bury! Steady Sword!"

Spoony's website has been fucked around a lot lately, and apparently he has a "big" review coming up that's taken up most of his time. I vaguely remember that, before all that, Final Fantasy VIII Part Whatever was slightly below Street Fighter 2010 on his "coming soon" list, which means it's probably not too far away now.

XI was my first proper MMORPG for like... three to four months in 2004. And then I lost the first install CD and had to replace my hard drive and that was the end of that. I had fun but never got into it to the point where I cared enough to get a new copy of the game.

If anyone was following Noah Antwiller's "Spoony Experiment" review of Final Fantasy VIII (www.spoonyexperiment.com), it's ended in suitably ludicrous fashion today.

That may have been the best thing I've ever seen on the internet, ever.

So, last time we all did a play along it went surprisingly well until the fact FFII gets shit annoying near the end and not everyone has FFIII called a stop to it.

Would anyone be up for doing one for FFVIII? >_> I've a massive urge to play the game and enjoyed last time when we all went about posting updates on where we are and so on.

well why don't we do one of IV, V or VI. I mean, they're easily the best of the first generation of games but they all seem to be somewhat overlooked when looking at the full spectrum of FFs. Either one of them or XII. I'm kinda stuck in the awkward late 80/early 90 lvl of XII where lvl'ing up is hard because I'm above every lvl'ing up spot but I'm not good enough to go against Omega Mark or Yiazmat, so I'd quite like to start all over with it.

So yeah, I suggest one of IV, V, VI or XII.
