Final Fantasy

Yuffie was one of my favorites for combat, I regret not learning how fantastic Doppleganger was until late in the game. My favs were Cloud, Yuffie and Tifa. Red and Barret were alright. Aerith and Cait I did not enjoy.

I really enjoyed Cait Sith for him being so different at first but got quickly bored. He’s meant to be hugely powered by his luck stat which is cool.

Using Radiant Ward I think alongside the double magic made Aerith a lock in my party as she was really powerful.

But I suppose that shows the strength of the games system that we had different experiences with who was good to use.

Honestly Fort Condor is an absolute pain in the ass, I just cheesed it with magic. I’m guessing it’s the lab you’re talking about?

Okay I just found out that I can literally use the Sorcerer II board and spam all three spells on the condor to instantly win. I guess that's what you're referring to. What a useless mini-game, haha.

Cloud, Barrett and Yuffie were my go-to team and I'd control Yuffie for the most part.

Like you, I wasn't a fan of Aerith or Cait Sith in combat.

I'm intrigued to learn what form it will take. A remake in the style of Final Fantasy 7 would surely be a long and expensive process. Could it be in the style of Octopath Traveler?

An HD-2D FF9? I never knew I wanted that until this very moment.

I don't think FF9 has the cultural legacy that FF7 had, and while beloved by the fans of RPGs and the series it isn't "the" Final Fantasy in the average consciousness.

It's curious what balance they strike. I don't envision a HD-2D remake because that seems more reserved for games or the previous era. It was technologically very advanced for a PS1 game and I think they'll want to try and take some kind of step forward with it.

Also, I took a good break from Rebirth before heading to the final parts of the game. But we're there now and as great as the story parts have been the bulk of chapter 12 and now early 13 have been an even higher bar.
