I'm realising what a bad habit I have with modern FFs and getting most of the way through but not finishing them to 100% like I used to. Ever since XII first came out I just haven't bothered being completionist with any of them as far as I can recall. That makes me very sad

I’ve never ever played a Final Fantasy game, but FFXV was $20 at GameStop and I had a $12 credit. 

I hope I didn’t just waste $8!

For $8 it's a good game.

All the negative things I've read about it has been more or less people saying "It's not like previous Final Fantasy games!" Which, as I said, this is my first one so that won't have any negative effects on me. I'm going to start it tonight once my girls are asleep.

Let us know what you think! As a first FF game, it's not a bad one. The story kinda gets stupid near the end, but like I said, good game.

 

Plus, the visuals and music are just fantastic.

Anyone who has ever complained about anything in FF can shut the fuck up because jump rope in FFIX is the worst mini game ever and that's all there is to it. I'm literally cheating and still can't do it. I managed it legitimately once but like fuck am I doing it that way again.

Three things:

1. I finally understand FFIX's Tetra Master after nearly two decades
2. I forgot how fun it is pissing Moguo off
3. No matter how many times I play this game I will never not be shocked and amused when you set a moogle on fire and he calls you a bastard

I do not remember this at all. I think I must be overdue a playthrough of FFIX, it's been many years.

This sounds exciting! First of a three volume series on the development of Final Fantasy, with concept art, etc., apparently a translation of the Japanese edition. This one covers FF1-FF6, so that's me picking up at least two volumes of this, I expect.

I always felt like the Ice Cavern in FFIX should have had more to it. It's so brief, and you don't get to explore it after it melts. I don't know why, but it's always appealed to me as a location.

I never noticed how much the Iifa Tree's layout and design is an homage of the Northern Crater from FFVII.

Know what I think goes under-appreciated in FFIX? The pacing. Story, journey, boss fight. It's a simple formula but it works every damned time.

I also think more games need to get rid of "open world" and go back to individual screens. It gives you a sense of progress.
