Yeah everyone in the NFL would rather have a super bowl win than a 16-0 season, with a loss in the first playoff game. Thats a given. If the Pats go 19-0, with the super bowl win, THATS the kind of undefeated season everyone wants. 16-0 was very impressive. But we're starting the playoffs now, all its gotten them is a first round bye, homefield advantage amd the chance to keep playing for 19-0

And yes Naiwf, you don't attack or talk shit about anyone, which is why some 8 hours after he explained his stance, you posted attacking me, pulling out a bunch of garbage that happened over a month ago, and not referencing what DarkRayne said at all. Troll. Perhaps you got your post confused with Lowerdeck's? You know, the one that's a polite response accepting the fact that someone doesn't take an aspect of sports as seriously as others do, not the trolling peice of garbage you posted.

Yeah this was discussed when the Colts had a chance to go undefeated a couple of years ago; if you don't win the Super Bowl, the 16-0 record means fuck all when it comes down to it.

Yes, it means a bit that they were the first team to go 16-0 but if they lose in the playoffs, that 16-0 record is a wash and doesn't really mean anything in terms of them being "perfect".

So another year over with, and the Lions still had the same problems they've had...well seemingly forever.

They still can't defend the screen, nor can they properly run it themselves.

They have WR's that drop easy passes.

The O-Line doesn't block.

They can't generate a pass rush with a four man rush, yet they show no desire to blitz a linebacker or three.

Our corners play too soft and get beat on a consistent basis.

The defense can never get off the field on third down, even third and longs. On the offensive side, we had a lot of trouble converting our third downs.

We still punt when we shouldn't be punting. Look, when we're beyond the 50, we should not be punting, ever. By punting beyond the 50, we're only delaying the inevitable, evidenced by the Packers longest drive of the year.

Oh yeah, one more thing, why is it that we always make bums look great? Does it seem like every game a bum is either having a career best, or somebody is setting a single season or franchise record against us? If you need a break out game, play the Lions.

The Packers third and second stringers beat up on the Lions 1st stringers yesterday. Yech, yet another putrid performance that isn't even the worst I've ever seen.

Things are pretty dire for Detroit football right now, even the most die hard fans are now in boycott mode, until Millen is gone at least. Hope for a better football team has been suspended until the worst GM in all of sports is eradicated from this franchise. I've pretty much given up hope, sure, I hope they do well, but I don't care anymore. They've sucked the life out of me this year, especially after the hot start. Expectations rise with a 6-2 start, and the Lions completely shit the bed in the last half of the season.

I'm not so sure of Randy Moss' "change of heart" just yet. He just had one of the greatest recieving seasons of all time, he's going to want to be compensated for it. Randy knew he couldn't walk into New England and demand anything, cause he'd been playing like shit for the past few season. He kept his mouth shut, proved he was the Randy Moss of old, and if you think he won't want huge money for that you're crazy. You got uber Moss this season cause he wants a super bowl ring and because its a contract year. The Patriots never pay out huge, so I'm not too sure Randy won't walk off to another contender that can give him huge money. Of course, Tom Brady can always just take another paycut to keep Randy around.

I'm just saying, this is probably the last opportunity for Moss to grab a huge contract, you're kidding yourself if you think he's not going to try. We've seen the one thing that gets in the way of players acting in the "Patriot Way" is money, and we've seen it with guys who aren't nearly the prima donna Moss can be. The Pats can absolutely re-sign him, but its going to cost them alot more than they ever seem like they're willing to spend. It'll be interesting to see what they do, this is really the first legitimate top tier mega star player they've had to re-sign besides Tom Brady.

Agreed about Moss. I really think he'll expect total compensation for this season, ESPECIALLY if he gets a ring. What does he have to lose? He's established himself as one of the greatest receivers ever with this season, he has a Super Bowl, why not get a ridiculous contract so he has to do fuck all for the last 4-5 years of his career.

And in very positive news. BRIAN BILLICK IS FIRED. Of course now the question is who are we gonna bring in as a head coach?

I hope not. I like Ryan but am not quite sure he'd be a good head coach. I think that the Ravens should go out and get somebody from out of their system to change things up a bit because it's needed. And I'd like to see them go after an established head coach, personally.

Man, the entire coaching staff was blown up. Everyone's gone except Ryan. Hopefully he stays at DC. I've heard possible candidates for Head Coach are Marty Shottenheimer, Bill Cowher (Hmm) and Jason Garret, Jason Garret being the frontrunner as reported by a someone from ESPN.

I really would like an established head coach to try and give the veterans a shot in the arm, and also teach the youth. People act like we're rebuilding, and while we're not going to be winning championships, we can still be competitive and stay that way for years -- especially if we find a franchise QB. Cowher would be my ideal coach. He knows the division, he knows the Ravens almost as well as anyone, and most importantly he knows the Steelers. Of course I think if Fox gets fired he'll go to Carolina in a heartbeat.

Jason Garrett is a very likely candidate though. He practically coaches the Cowboys, and as much as Jones will try to have him stay, he's not going to be head coach for a few years. And plus, coaching in Dallas is both the best and worst job you could want. It's the dream job for so many, but the line of failure is so high that it is a bigger challenge than in a city like Baltimore where you're given second and third chances -- especially when the general consensus is that today is the end of an era and we're rebuilding for a next generation (which we are to some extent, but Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs, Todd Heap, and Willis McGahee will be here for quite a few more years).

He went out of his way to get Jason Garrett a year ago, he's not going to just let him leave. Jerry wants Garrett to be the Cowboys next head coach, I'll be very suprised if it doesn't happen

Yeah, I thought it was known all along that he's the heir to the Wade Phillips throne. I'm thinking that either Marty Shottenheimer will be their choice for an experienced head coach or Mike Singletary if they go an assistant/coordinator route.

Seems like Martyball might play okay in Baltimore, with a solid RB and a very good (when healthy) TE on hand...but even Marty's gonna need a QB who can get them the ball. Seriously, for the Ravens fans, do you think Smith might actually get them by longterm, or is he looking like a stopgap until they can draft (or sign?) a new savior?

And while we're on the subject of teams in need of QB's, I'm off to build a voodoo shrine to bring Donovan McNabb home to Chitown.
