What Did You Watch Today?

I thought 21 Grams was decent, certainly well acted with a very good performance from Del Toro. I think Amores Perros just edges it though.

I am making up for my inability to watch Ghibli films for my 365 list (having already seen basically all the ones I care to see) by watching the Ghibli documentary, A Kingdom of Dreams and Madness on Amazon Prime.

Exodus: Gods & Kings - Just got done watching it. I give it 3 and a half stars, but since you can't give half star ratings on Netflix's website, I gave it 4 there. A little bit too long.

Currently watching Inbetweeners 2. Aside from the awful poo/vomit scene (seriously, who the finds that kind of stuff funny?) it's decent.

Half way through Princess Mononoke and disappointed to say I'm a little bored. It's not bad, but it feels very slow and lacking in any real personalities at the moment.

I kind of felt that after watching. I dunno what it was, it just didn't click with me at all, and a lot of elements of it felt an awful lot like a re-tread of Nausicaa, which I thought was just above average too. I'm much more a sucker for the whimsical side of Ghibli than the more serious toned films.

I can understand that. And yeah, I've always felt that Mononoke is sort of a spiritual sequel (maybe sequel's not the right word) to Nausicaa, too. I loved both, though.

But Benji, if you don't cry after Grave of the Fireflies, you really are the worst :@

Rambo: First Blood II was about the same as the first. Wasn't keen on the exact same message though; "blindly love our troops" is a message I don't care for in the first place, let alone twice.

John Wick was fucking awesome. I really like the idea that the protagonist is the one that instills fear in the antagonists for a change.
