Discussion topic: winning conditions that don't involve surviving to endgame. Turncoats, jesters, and things of that nature. Yay or nay?

My vote is nay. People shouldn't be able to win a game before it's over.

Yay. I don't particularly approve of Turncoats, but most other roles like that are fine. (But not SKs where you don't have to survive to the end)

I'm on another board where we're playing a Dark Knight game, and the Joker was the Jester and got kill powers after he was lynched--one in the day and one in the night.

Jesters yay, batshit crazy broken jesters like that nay.

I for one don't mind survivor roles--I think they add strange new developments to the game. I particularly like it when they have some sort of power that could benefit either side and are able to play down the middle (like SDM Mafia's Keyser Soze role). It adds a cool dynamic to the game.

On another note, what's the accepted ratio of Town:Non-Town roles? I have the idea that a game with 12 townies should have four non-townies, is that accurate?

If it was a larger game, I would agree with the 1:3 ratio....but a game that small....I would be leaning more to 1:4

Yeah non-town should make up 1/4 to 1/3 of players. Smaller games should have 1/4, bigger games with more than 1 group of scum should be closer to 1/3 of players.

....fuck off, I sucked at ratios...I was thinking more percentage anyways....33% for larger games, 25% smaller.

He's saying 12 townies, 4 non-townies - a 16 player total. I'd be tempted to only have 3 non-townies in a game that size.
