I like any role where I'm town and have some kind of protection, mainly because I've only lost once in that position.

It's hard to lose when you have such an awesome role. I don't think I have lost like that.

Playing as a townie is actually too easy. I like being a vigilante or having an autolynch so I haven't got to rely on everybody else to be as awesome as me.

Auto-lynches are probably more conducive to good play than vig roles. It's too tempting to kill every night on the slightest of pretexts, but you naturally want to save your single auto-lynch. Still, it's fucking annoying when you're night-killed before you have a chance to use it.

I've never had any protection in any game apart from the aborted WoW mafia where everyone did. I've only been don once actually, of a 3 person mafia in a 30 person game. And Be SKed me on the second night

I always cherry-pick roles. But I do it in such a way that there's no pattern from game to game.

I far prefer being Mafia. Saying that, I well loved being Indiv SK in... Invasion Mafia? I also don't think I've ever, ever been a 'straight' investigator. I've been a paranoid cop a couple of times, and may have been a straight investigator once, but I died before ever using it
