For 1 - 11 players, gives you one kill

For 12 - 19 players, gives you two kills

For 20 - 27 players, gives you three kills

For 28 - 35 players, gives you four kills

etc.

All depends on how long you want the game to last of course, and there's always cross-killing and lynches to factor in.

How are we going on the # of games front? I want to start up Diary Cube Diary Mafia soon - how many games do people think I should wait to finish before I start signups?

You also have that much time to campaign for your own diaries' inclusion.

6 games running at the moment, plus Be looks like he has House Mafia ready to run after that. I'd wait till 2 of the current games finish running first.

I really don't understand why you decide on the number of roles before you come up with the roles.

I usually come up with five or six extra roles in case something doesn't work out. There were jobbers I planned on adding to all three Jobber Mafias (Chip Minton, Nunzio, George South, the Highlanders, etc.) that never quite made the cut. Not to mention the fact that I actually did originally create a Master Thespian role for John Wilkes Booth in Pfeiffer Mafia mere days before GoGo suggested the exact same thing.
