Covers better than originals...

Seger or Metallica -- Metallica's version of "Turn the Page" is just inches better, but it fits the category perfectly.

I also feel ashamed for liking Alanis Morrisette's cover of Seal's "Crazy". I beg for forgiveness.

Feeder's cover of "Can't Stand Losing You" by The Police.

No Doubt's version of REM's "End Of The World" and their cover of "Come On Eileen". Also their cover of the Vandal's "Oi To The World" ISN'T as good as the original but it's a good pop-ska version nonetheless.

I think "Come On Eileen" is actually a No Doubt soundalike....possibly Save Ferris? I may be wrong, though.

Oh, and as for "Can't Stand Losing You", I don't know how easy it would be to track down, but The Police did a version of it in a Peel Session that was absolutely incredible. Really messed up and distorted, doesn't sound like them at all. Miles better than the single edit.

Ignite do a fucking awesome punk cover of "Sunday Bloody Sunday". It's one of the odd occasions that band has gotten away with putting a 'famous cover' on one of their albums. Not sure if I like it as much as the original though.

I also prefer The Bouncing Souls cover of "Better Things" by The Kinks, to the original.

They both are very close but Alien Ant Farm's Smooth Criminal and Johnny Cash's Hurt. Especially Hurt, that song is so moving and just awesome.

Oh! Pat Boone's Crazy Train with the Crazy Train dancers just because it's so funny to hear him take a song about being on a downward spiral and make it a happy, cheery Pat Booney song.
