The Sports Betting thread

They bet based on where they see value. Frankly, most people will bet on favourites. Therefore, they have to bet more to win more, as the prices are so short. Limiting it to singles basically means it is going to be incredibly difficult to win good money.

EDIT: They wouldn't lay a bet that size on something that is pre-determined, Jouzy.

There are staking limits on all sports.

A place were bookies got stung initially was UFC betting. This was because it was a rare example of the punter having a better chance of knowing a sport more than the person laying the bet. Therefore, the prices weren't quite right.

This hasn't stayed that way, unfortunately.

But there's nothing to stop people inside the WWE from throwing down 100,000 on someone is there? Ehh, it's not my business so I dont care, but I wouldn't be letting betting occur on things that are pre-determined.

I'm pretty sure that would be illegal or at least break some sort of terms and conditions of the bookies.

It would, but there are ways around it.

Yeah because your bank wouldn't notice. I'm not saying it's impossible but if it was happening on a large enough scale to make it worthwhile then people would start asking questions, in the same way they start asking questions when people are winning £100,000 bets on Italian football every week.

The thing is, it is not worth the money. With wrestling, you really do rarely know for sure about something, and you'd have to be putting £70 on to win just £20. Knowing the WWE, they'd just as likely swerve again for the sake of swerving.

I've steered clear of that one for that reason. It's still safe though. Just as I'm positive Lesnar is winning tonight.

And Jouz, occasionally you get stuff like "who killed ...?" in the soaps.
