If it's under warranty, they'll always tell you to go back where you bought it. We end up with a pinball situation at work, because we always tell the customer to ring MS first, because 9 times out of 10, they actually don't have the RROD, they have one (hard drive disconnected), or four (video cable disconnected), or some other bullshit thing that can be sorted out over the phone (we had one try to get a refund because they couldn't play online. Not sure how they intended to get online without an ethernet cable...or a network adaptor...or a fucking broadband set-up). And of course, MS's super-helpful foreign call-centre folk can't understand a word they say, so they send them back to us.

I would love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation, some Indian call-centre dude versus an inbred pikey motherfucker (aka typical Glostonian).

Rang Microsoft, they said they'd take it but probably wouldn't replace it, only fix it but I could take it back to the supplier if that's what I'd prefer. I said I'd get back to them, rang Littlewoods and they said they'd pick it up Tuesday and drop off a new one at the same time, if I'd prefer.

Since it's a brand new console with nothing on it, I'd rather just get a brand new one than repairing it and risk the problem recurring so I've gone down the Littlewoods route. Will get to play it quicker this way too. :D
