I suppose now is a better time for predictions than any.

Eastern Conference

1- Philadelphia Flyers (Atlantic Champions) [President's Trophy]

2- Ottawa Senators (Northeast Champions)

3- Tampa Bay Lightning (Southeast Champions)

4- New Jersey Devils

5- Boston Bruins

6- Montreal Canadiens

7- Florida Panthers

8- Toronto Maple Leafs

Western Conference

1- Calgary Flames (Northwest Champions)

2- San Jose Sharks (Pacific Champions)

3- Detroit Red Wings (Central Champions)

4- Vancouver Canucks

5- Nashville Predators

6- Edmonton Oilers

7- Colorado Avalanche

8- Columbus Blue Jackets

Eastern Conference Finals

Philadelphia over Tampa Bay

Western Conference Finals

Calgary over Detroit

Stanley Cup Finals

Calgary over Philadelphia

Why am I making these picks? Well, I believe that Calgary was no fluke in 03-04 and with an even better cast surrounding Iginla I expect the Flames to cruise through the weakened Western Conference. Philadelphia is loaded, though I was going to give Ottawa their spot if it weren't Dominick Hasek being 40 years old. Biggest disappointment this year I am calling to be the Thrashers who, even with Ilya, will be a weak, weak team. Biggest surprise, without a doubt, the Florida Panthers who made some good signings in the offseason to give themselves a shot at the 7 or 8 seed. I honestly feel we'll see about 3-4 really good teams this year, 24 or so ones on an equal level, all of whom could alternate their playoff seeding, and 2-3 awful, awful teams.

Who could sneak in the postseason in both coferences? In the East I think Buffalo and Pittsburgh are two teams I didn't choose who have cap room to acquire someone to get them over the hump. Out West I think just about anyone has the potential to make the postseason after the top 4.

Hart Trophy (MVP)

Peter Forsberg

Calder Trophy (Rookie of the Year)

Alexander Ovechkin

Art Ross (Scoring)

Joe Thornton

Maurice "The Rocket" Richard Trophy (Goals)

Jarome Iginla

Norris Trophy (Defense)

Zdeno Chara

Vezina Trophy (Goaltender)

Roberto Luongo

Jack Adams Trophy (Coach)

Jacques Martin

I was very sad when Spezza was picked right before I was going to pick him. I also realize I am seriously lacking in the Goaltending area but I am sure I am doing better then the guy who pick Blackburn.

Rate if you wish.

I don't really know who to root for this year, I was a Toronto kid back when but then when I was about 11 or 12 I started to like the Red Wings more (Always loved Yzerman) and then I liked them for 2 or 3 years but now I don't know who I'm going to get behind.

I'll probably stay with the Wings, but the rosters are somewhat unfirmillar with me at this moment, hopefully we get some new contenders to emerge with the recent roster shake ups.

And in other news Ovechkin is proving who will be the new shining star on the NHL with 2 goals on the Blue Jays. Well, to be honest i can't tell if he really is playing that well cause i'm not watching that game, but scoring twice on your first NHL game can't be bad.

As for what I'm watching... the Flyers are up 3-2 vs the Rangers on the end of the 2nd. Sounds about right for what happened so far. Nylander missed a penalty shot which was good cause i don't think the PS should have been awarded in the first place.

Also, i can't see the Rangers getting anything of this game unless the Jagr line spends most of the time on the ice. This line isn't even playing great but the remaining lines aren't doing anything at all.
