Garden State

Okay has anyone seen this movie. I watched it yesterday and I know I sound like a girl but I really liked it. It's a smart, witty, love story and usually I'm not all about these movies but Garden State just struck a chord with me. So has anyone seen it and did you like it?

It's a good film, but I just kinda thought "oh, ok" at the end of it. I know it was about realisation, and facing up to life, but it was a lot to fit into a story that spanned 2 or so days.

I've seen it about 4 times, and I fall more in love with Natalie Portman's character each time.

I love that movie. Natalie Portman is an awesome actress, I think.

EDIT: It spanned 5 days, wannabe.

And I agree, I love Natalie Portman's character...she's hawt as well, which helps.

I've had this recommended to me, but from the sounds of this thread it's completely different to what I've heard...what exactly is it about?

Main character's mom died, goes back home to the funeral after 9 years of being in California, hangs around with old friends that are druggies and wasted lives, and finds love in an unexpected place. Oh yeah, and has problems with his dad steeming from two issues that are revealed later in the movie. I don't want to spoil it.

It's a fantastic movie, really.

I dunno how much to your taste he would be, but Nick Drake has a song on there, and he is awesome IMO.

Nick Drake is indeed awesome. I think I'm gonna check this out, it sounds like the kind of thing I'd like.

It's an amazing film, IMO. I watched it with some friends and we went from cracking up (Three Times A Lady @ the funeral) to sitting there in shocked silence (his fireside confession). It was awesome, and I hope it springboards Braff's movie career, as a writer, a director and an actor.

I have a friend who reminds me of Natalie Portman's character. Less hot, though.

I might start a band called His Fireside Confession...
