Chelsea vs Liverpool

Fucking hell about PSV Milan. When I first saw the score I thought PSV had managed to go 3-0 ahead and then Milan had scored last minute. That would have been gutting. 2 matches with big endings. I've really been liking this Champions League this season. I can't believe Shevchenko didn't score, the bastard. I have him as captain on my fantasy team.

How the fuck did they create that digital image of the Liverpool 'goal' then?

edit: Just seen the 3D reconstruction with Gray's commentary on Skysports News. I don't care how accurate their system is there's still no way they can be sure whether it crossed or not.

Not that it matters anyway. Tottenham's goal against ManU that didn't count wasn't given back to them afterward and that was totally blatant, so result isn't going to be made void either.

Yeah but if that wasn't a goal then shouldn't it be a penalty and Cech sent off like they were saying?

Oh and the game tonight was amazing, another super game. PSV were fantastic while Milan were downright shit, let's pray they're that bad when they face us at the weekend. Got to say it was so damn exciting though. I wanted Milan to win obviously so it was quite nerve racking actually. PSV were just in another league to Milan the entire way through and that late Cocu goal was fantastic. They're super unlucky to go out and well at the rate it went tonight whoever went through could certainly pose huge threats to Liverpool in the final.

Milan/Liverpool should be damn good though. Honestly cant see Milan playing how they played tonight but you never know.

Some news regarding that 'goal':

Slovak linesman Roman Slysko is convinced Liverpool's winning goal against Chelsea on Tuesday did cross the line, but Sky Sports have placed a new spin on the controversial moment.

Liverpool sent Chelsea tumbling out of the UEFA Champions League thanks to Luis Garcia's early effort.

Slysko was adamant he had made the correct decision, as he said: "I believe that my decision was correct.

"My first feeling and which I remain convinced of is that it was a goal."

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was not convinced that the effort had crossed the line and Sky Sports' technical experts have produced a series of digital images which appear to support the Portuguese tactician's assessment.

The pictures appear to support the view that William Gallas had hacked the ball to safety before the effort crossed the line.

The controversy is likely to rage on, although it does appear to have been forgotten that referee Lubos Michel would in all probability have sent off Petr Cech and awarded Liverpool a penalty had the effort not been allowed to stand due to an earlier challenge on Milan Baros.

I'm going to go scream into a pillow.

It was nowhere near a goal in any light of day. The ball never crossed the line and you could see during the match. However, it was either that or send Cech off and give a penalty, so sensing the situation, the ref allowed the goal because he obviously felt it was fairer than make Chelsea play with 10 men and the possibility that they might have saved it.

Whatever - I'm just happy Liverpool will be playing AC Milan in Istanbul.

I'm not saying I don't WANT Liverpool in the Champions League. I'm saying they don't DESERVE to be there if they can't qualify.

The League and FA Cup don't really count. Every team in the league has to take part in them, and most of the time it's not the first eleven playing anyway.

Also, injuries happen. Granted Liverpool have had more than their fair share, but if we repeated this season with Arsenal, or Birmingham, or Aston Villa or anyone else in Liverpool's place, would you still say they deserved a shot in the CL next season without qualifying for it?

Besides, their chances of beating Milan are slim anyway, so this probably won't matter. Yeah, you beat Juventus, but you've been the underdog three times in three rounds, and the "third time lucky" rule probably has an inverse :P
