Europe XI vs. World XI

In aid of the Tsunami disaster, they're having what’s basically an 'all-stars' match tonight on ITV2, the synopsis of which is as follows;

World XI v Europe XI (Kick-off 8.00pm). Coverage of the charity game from the Nou Camp in Barcelona, as the finest players in the world gather to raise money for victims of the Asian tsunami. The European squad is captained by AC Milan's Andriy Shevchenko, and managed by Marcello Lippi and Arsene Wenger, and will feature the likes of David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Zinedine Zidane and Roberto Baggio, while the World XI is no less talented. Ronaldinho leads a team managed by Frank Rijkaard and Carlos Alberto Parreira, and will line up alongside fellow Brazilians Ronaldo, Cafu and Adriano

Exactly. Most games like this just turn out crap with no proper tackles being made. I just hope they play competitively. I know the whole idea is to raise money for the disaster, but they should at least try to put a good show on.

Wow, this is pretty fucking boring - but at least the proceeds are going to a charity. I can't really blame them for not giving 100%, particularly with CL back on, at least they bothered to turn up.

The first half was boring apart from a couple of tricks from Ronaldinho.

I'm suprised that Gerrard is still on the pitch 15 min from the end though.

Yep, he's at Southampton and has scored 2 in 2 for them. He looks a different class, maybe just what they need to keep them up.

Always rated Camara. Wanted the Villa to go after him when Wolves went down. Zola looked good. Only saw the second half, missed the first as I was coming home from London. Looked alright, I guess.

Can anyone explain why Deco played for the World XI, while Suazo played for Europe? I know Deco was born in Brazil, that might explain it, but Suazo isn't European - although does playing in Italy have any bearing?

Very good game actually.

They don't sit there doing super tackles because it's a game for charity, a little mess around. The players showed that today as well. Ronaldinho showed some classic skill, awesome stuff from him.

Overall a pretty good game and nice to see quite a few players going there to do this for the Tsunami stuff.

Got bored during the 2nd half so turned off, since this kinda relates to the topic, who would your choices be for the starting 11 if this was a legitimate match?

Last nite we saw the inclusion of many players that shouldn't even included in any european or world 11, so who are your choices?
