Why Jerry Jones will remain Dallas Cowboys owner/GM: 'There's nobody that can f-king come in here ... and be a GM any better than I can'

You tell'em Jerry!  They can take the job of GM away from you when they pry it from your cold dead hands!

People don’t seem to understand that there isn’t a reality in which he doesn’t have final say over everything.  So a GM literally would not be able to come in and do a better job than him.

I assume this means that everyone who can do a better job is banned from the building, so there are two groups of people in the world: those who can't do a better job, and those who can't come in.

Yeah, some owners are good about being hands off and letting the football ops people do their thing, maybe providing their opinion but ultimately leaving it up to their delegates.

Jones is the polar opposite.  For him to hire a GM would mean he's either hiring a yes-man, or he's hiring someone who thinks they aren't going there to be a yes-man and will soon quit in frustration when Jones overrides.

He's pretty much the NFL equivalent of Vince McMahon, he wants to run every aspect of the operation and have the final say on it all no matter how old he gets, it needs to be "his vision".  He's never going to give up control until it's either taken from him or he's no longer with us.

Its like the last several years when Al Davis was still alive. The Raiders had trouble getting good coaches, because they knew the players could go right over their head to him. I believe it was Gruden who said as much after he left.

Oh maybe. I'll admit I'm not entirely sure how this process works.

All the other teams have a chance to claim him and pick up his contract. If none of them do, he is free to revert back to being one of their practice squad players (i.e. not counting towards the 53-man roster).

Cowboys look at their running back room, saw how bad it was, and then at all of the running backs cut yesterday...and then signed Dalvin Cook.

I saw it described as a marquee addition

Marquee addition for the ultimate goal of removing Mike McCarthy.
