Shelley Duvall, Robert Altman Protege and Tormented Wife in ‘The Shining,’ Dies at 75

I had just watched her in Robert Altman's Popeye the other week where she was a perfect Olive Oly.

Also, it turns out that a woman who runs a Shelly Duvall fan Twitter was also friends with her in real life and they had friendship bracelets

I felt sad hearing the news earlier, remember her well in Popeye, and know of her work. It's humbling to see that twitter account used to meet up with her, sure that was lovely for the both of them. Sad news really.

Shelley Duvall deserved much more than the film industry and world at large gave her.

At least The Razzies walked back that worst actress nomination in recent years in light of the, let's say...intense conditions of that particular shoot.

Nicholson's Jack isn't nearly as iconic without her Wendy. The scenes of her cowering in the bathroom, her definitive Scream Queen portrayal, the humanity she displays in her fear for herself, her child, and her husband's waning sanity. Just an absolute icon.

She was nearly perfect in everything she was involved in. I think Popeye caught her at her best even though it wasn't a great film she played Olive perfectly.

The Shining is probably my favourite film of all-time and Shelley Duvall gave such a magnificent performance in it. She portrayed being a woman on the edge so well.
