Neal Maupay is set to leave Everton to join Marseille on loan with an obligation to buy. The Frenchman scored once for the club after joining in 2022 from Brighton. He spent last season on loan at Brentford, scoring six goals in 28 Premier League matches but was not in Sean Dyche’s plans at Goodison Park.

Meanwhile, Orel Mangala is heading for a medical with the midfielder to sign on loan for a season from Lyon. The Belgium international only moved to Ligue 1 permanently in the summer, having spent six months on loan with Lyon from Nottingham Forest but is already back in the Premier League.

Surely they had to get rid of Maupay if solely because the way he was clearly upset with the interactions with supporters over the weekend.

Marseille may be a good fit for him given the step down in competition. That club turning around would be a charming story for me except for Mason Greenwood sized issue.

Ah, I remember those days of sweet innocence when we too were amused by Kepa wordplay.

And it made sense when nobody knew Kepa sounds phonetically more like "pepper" than "peeper".

You've not even included the best thing about the move.

The irony being that Andy Dufresne was moving away from an institution of sex offenders.
