La Liga rules state contracts have to have release clauses, so most teams put ridiculous figures in. For example, Bellingham's is rumoured to be €1bn

Zubimendi is staying at Sociedad. Least this saga of will he stay or not is over and won't be unnecessary dragged out.

"Zubimendi is about to sign for x but his club have convinced him to stay" has played on repeat since the Euros. Arsenal, Liverpool and I think Barcelona too.

Probably felt more of a saga to me because of scrolling through likes of twitter, reddit, listening to podcasts etc. 

I get the argument of if you can't find the player you think will improve the squad then don't spend but it's been like 3/4 summer windows of we need a holding type midfielder. 

I also admire his loyalty to his boyhood club. Gonna accept a new contract a lot lower than the one we offered so people questioning his mentality will quickly forget about that thought process when we're trying to desperately keep hold of Trent and not let him go to Madrid on a free. 

I feel like there's obvious gaps in our squad and I worry they're not going to be addressed. We need a successor to Salah, we need a centre back successor to Van Dijk as well as an option for now given the injury records of our centre backs. Think we could do with some pace in midfield as well. 

The squads good enough to challenge for a title and get top 4. But last season they ran out of pace and injuries caught up and it could easily happen again.

After spending five days living out of a Madrid hotel room, doing only whatever basic training he can on his own while waiting for a transfer that Chelsea tried to force upon him, Conor Gallagher is flying back to the UK today (presumably to get the same outcast treatment that Chalobah is getting).

Meanwhile, Chelsea and Atleti are trying to agree a price for Felix, whose involvement in all this may well be primarily down to his agent Jorge Mendes pulling the strings of our Sporting Directors. 

This fucking club, man.
