It won't matter. If we get the ball near the area then it's at the feet of an attacking midfielder, whose first instinct will be to pass to another attacking midfielder, and if they get it they will look for another attacking midfielder, and nobody will ever shoot.

Just poor play. He was trying to desperately reach the ball, which you take a risk of doing later on a match if circumstances dictate but not in the opening minutes.
