Genuinely can't understand this Trent in midfield madness. At this level players have spent a lifetime learning their position and we think Trent can play there because he can ping the ball about a bit.

It's Beckham the quarterback all over again.

It's struck me that his best position might be the Beckham style false winger, where he doesn't need to be as defensively sound as he does as a full back or centre mid but can ping the ball about. Problem is he's not Beckham, and the games moved on a bit from 4 4 fucking 2.

Surely could be trusted to play his natural position when England need some more countering in a match they're level/down late?

This has the feel of a friendly match. You've got two teams ambling about and chucking on substitutes in the hope that something changes.

You'd never usually expect Saka, Kane and Foden to be substituted in a level match.

It's pretty well known I'm not an England fan. Didn't watch any of the games on Sunday as had a lot on so can't really comment but this is so turgid and crap to watch. (Apparently Sunday was the same?)

It's just slow and feels like with the players in the team and their abilities, its just being stiffled by a safety first and defensive manager when there's no reason why the squad England have can't play nice football and be entertaining and at the same time be successful. 

Yeah he's united the squad and he's liked by the media cause he's inoffensive but anytime England play someone good they've done crap. 

They'll get out the group and the first good team they play they'll get beat.

I know there's only so much you can take away from a friendly, but the performance against Iceland recently was a big clue that things aren't going well.

The full time whistle being blown because they were too busy faffing about instead of playing the ball forward summed it up quite well.

That wasn't an entertaining match. Tonight's game will also not be entertaining for me, for different reasons.
