Twist
The Ferrari strategists shafted that pit.
gunnar hendershow
I can't say I know much about motorsports but I think I'd run Ferrari better than Ferrari run Ferrari.
Chris2K
There we go. This season is becoming Schumacher levels of inevitability which is never good for neutral fans.
METALMAN
Yeah, obviously 2020 was an easy win for Hamilton but at least there was an interesting midfield battle and plenty of drivers from midfield teams getting podiums. Not even been getting that this year.
METALMAN
Omg if Alonso overtakes Leclerc is will be so funny
Chris2K
He got the place back, but a speeding penalty means he falls behind Alonso. For a pit stop he didn't need to make. For a fastest lap he didn't get. Ferrari!
METALMAN
This might be my favourite Ferrari fuck up yet because it was so unnecessary

METALMAN
I love Spa and I think on principle its important we keep the races in the traditional heartlands of F1 rather than selling them off to authoritarian states like the Gulf monarchies and the USA. But hopefully we'll get a race that is fitting of such a good circuit next year rather than yesterday's procession.

JasonM
Absolute shambles from Alpine. Just no words in how much they fucked up their future because they don't know how contracts work.
Toe
Yeah, although I think getting Gasly would be a good consolation prize.
METALMAN
Tbf Piastri seems a like a bit of a dick with the way he handled this. I’m with Toto on this one.
Chris2K
He's a very good driver, but he has thrown so much additional pressure on himself in a car that has certainly fallen away under the new regulations. It's similar to Benetton poaching Michael Schumacher from Jordan after one race, but at least in that example Benetton were definitively a bigger team, the difference between Alpine and McLaren is marginal. METALMAN
Now that I've looked at this properly - it seems Piastri signed for McLaren on 4 July and told Alpine he was leaving. Then Alpine announced Piastri on 2 August. Even though he told his he was leaving. I think Piastri owes Alpine a bit more loyalty given they supported his career development but I can also understand why he got annoyed at them. This is not a team that deals with Australian drivers going to McLaren in a sensible and mature way.
Chris2K
I was hoping for a Ferrari pole, but now I'm a little concerned about what tomorrow's race is going to be like with Max at the front and overtaking far from easy at Zaandvort. Also, imagine paying hundreds of Euros for a ticket and still letting off a flare that gets you kicked out for the whole weekend.
Chris2K
Remember when Crofty and Jenson were joking about the pigeons at the apex of a corner? Well it didn't have a happy ending after the F2 race... Spoiler
