gunnar hendershow
We're going through this in the US, especially at NBA games, and players are constantly told to keep their cool. But it's pretty ridiculous when things are being thrown at them, fans are showing no fear running on the court, etc. I think it's unreasonable to just act like fans get to operate with impunity unless they lay a finger on the players. Line should be drawn well before that. And obviously there are punishments for pitch invasions, etc but it's gotta be more severe.

Oh, the pitch invasions are daft but it doesn’t give McBurnie any moral or legal right to kick lumps out of someone.
Adam
Maybe it doesn't but what has happened before that video starts? It looks like Forest fans are scuffling with Rhian Brewster, another Sheffield United player subjected to being surrounded by idiots supporting the other team. Anyway, Forest's neighbours Mansfield are having a field day at Northampton tonight since the ref is letting them get away with constant thug tactics. Again, I don’t think what matters before that video matters. The fan is on the floor and defenceless. That’s all that matters. There’s no legal grey area here. That isn’t self defence and potentially stomping on someone else’s head while they can’t defend themselves (regardless of their actions) is grim. Admin Lineker Posted May 18, 2022 Admin Report Share Posted May 18, 2022 Quote Partial and even full stadium closures could be imposed on clubs in the Football League next season as authorities seeks to crack down on pitch invasions and other fan disorder. Nottinghamshire police arrested a 31-year-old man after Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp was allegedly assaulted at the City Ground at the end of the Championship playoff semi-final against Nottingham Forest. The EFL joined the players’ union, the Professional Footballers’ Association, and Forest in condemning the incident and said it would look at strengthening its deterrents against supporter misbehaviour. Addressing the pitch invasion at Forest and similar scenes at other playoff and end-of-season fixtures, the EFL said: “We recognise that this lawlessness is being conducted by a small minority of individuals and that the majority of people attending matches are a credit to their club. “However, it is not acceptable for supporters to enter the field of play at any time given the EFL’s objective is to ensure our matches remain a safe and welcoming one for all. Therefore, over the summer we will consider what further measures are now at our disposal, including the potential use of capacity reductions or other similar mitigations.” It is understood all options will be looked at and ordering teams to play behind closed doors has not been ruled out. The EFL said: “Supporters are reminded that it is against the law to enter the pitch at any time and could result in a club ban and criminal record. More importantly it puts the safety of players, coaches, managers and match officials at risk. It is vital that those playing the game can do so safe in the knowledge that they will not be subjected to violent, threatening or antisocial behaviour.” The PFA described the Sharp incident as a “senseless assault” and called for matchday security and fan disorder to be reviewed. Fan disorder has been on the rise this season, with figures from the UK Football Policing Unit released this year showing a 36% increase in reported incidents in the first half of the 2021-22 season compared with the same period in 2019-20. Sharp described his assailant as a “scumbag” in a social media post but said he would not let what had happened ruin his respect for his former club’s supporters. Forest fans have set up a JustGiving page for money to be donated to a charity of Sharp’s choice to show their condemnation for what happened. Admin Lineker Posted May 29, 2022 Admin Report Share Posted May 29, 2022 1-0 to Forest at half-time. Hopefully they can hold on - though an own-goal would be a desperately way for Huddersfield to lose it all!

Bobfoc
Fantastic. I'm a Notts County fan first, but I've been to several Forest matches in my life and think of them as a second team. This was a team with one point from their first seven games under Chris Hughton, and now they've been promoted. Steve Cooper deserves a heck of a lot of credit. 2

Bobfoc
I have to wonder what will happen next season. Davis, Zinckernagel, Spence, Garner and Lowe have all been key players this season, but they're all loanees. You'd think they'd want to keep at least a couple of them. I understand Spence has some big clubs looking at him. It's so strange that Middlesbrough considered him disposable enough to loan out.
Cymbols
Big up Forest. As much as I really rate the guy, I don’t see Davis sticking around Villa. I’d like to see him stick around Forest to be honest. We always figured that he’d be a problem if he could go a run of games without getting injured, nice to see it happen.
