Hopefully not Shearer, his record is pretty poor. Are there enough Al's to go around?

Alan Curbishley is still available

I honestly don't understand why he was never hired again as a manager after the West Ham departure. He wasn't a terrible manager at all. Maybe there's more to it than I know?

From what I can gather, he was holding out for a big job after he left West Ham, but nothing came along that he considered worth going for. The longer he was out of the game, the less appealing he probably became to potential employers.

His managerial record, albeit with only two clubs, was actually very good. He took Charlton to the Premier League and kept them there for several years, a status they're miles off now. He also saved West Ham from relegation before guiding them to a top-half finish the following season.

I think there was a lawsuit with West Ham. He won, but at the expense of being effectively blackballed from the industry.

That's kind of what I was thinking. That huh filing, and winning, the lawsuit against West Ham blackballed him from other clubs wanting him.

They may as well appoint one of us as manager by that logic though. Plenty of good, experienced managers would want to take over at Spurs. Kompany has had one very good season in the Championship with one of its most capable clubs, having failed to really meet expectations at Anderlecht. He's only 37, I can only see it ending badly if he steps up to that level of job too soon.

Wouldn't that be a shame? Both Spurs and Burnley suffering....

Dunno, at worst he could be shite but then get to come back 18 months later as an interim, that's the in thing these days.
