  1. Or, to explain it more so... A lot of the times for a game like Apex we'll say, they run in seasons and as you play you earn points, etc - as you level up you unlock rewards. Maybe in game currency, maybe skins for a weapon, maybe outfits for a character. Usually there's a free tier with rewards that are okay - but exclusive stuff or even bigger rewards are usually on the Battlepass. It's like a second tier that runs concurrently with the free tier. You can get it at the start of the season and unlock from the free tier and the Battlepass tier as you move along, and if you buy the pass mid-season you'll retroactively unlock anything that you would've gotten had you used it from the start. This is a more visual example. In this Fortnite example, you get something every 2 levels on the free tier, but something EVERY level on the paid tier. Some games do them well - and you can end up getting back in-game currency to come close to equaling what you paid for it. Other games have a hard time balancing the effort that you put in versus what you get out. And it really only pays off if it's a game that you are putting most of your time into, unless there's something in an early tier you REALLY want. Because of your earlier post about Fortnite, I'm guessing that might be what you're asking about. They just started Chapter Three, which for them means that made a lot of bigger changes, and mid-March they'll finish season one of that and then start on season two. The last seasons ran like this; Chapter Two, season seven June 8, 2021 - Sept. 12, 2021 Chapter Two, season eight Sept. 13, 2021 - Dec. 4, 2021 Chapter Three, season one Dec. 5, 2021 - March 15, 2022
  2. I do wish for more games like Kingdom of Amalur - I should look into that fresh DLC that dropped a few months back. That game had the feeling of an MMO style quest system, and it was a fully solo game even if the gameplay was more action based.
  3. I think for the most part, people play Elder Scrolls Online like that. But it's still very much wrapped in traditional MMORPG trappings.
  4. I haven't run into that yet (though the loudness of the beep that tells you your immunity is getting low makes me constantly jump) but they are pushing a patch this week that will hopefully solve your issue.

    WWE 2K23

I think every game since a 2K or even before has a career booster in the season pass. All the career modes have been pretty jank as well - AND the worst looking because as the look of scanned models improves, the look off the models that were just created gets even more jarring.

The removal of limited reversals is also a great sign for me. That system was neat at first but as time went on it was clear how limiting it was. Eventually it just became "ground stomp until the opponent is out of reversals and then do your thing" and if you ever had zero - it just sucked to have ZERO ability to do anything about it. In later games I just turned it off but then it was just a reversal fest. This system of dodging, blocking, breaking or reversing moves is a really good change up.

That gameplay looks so much snappier, less canned animations for connecting with moves that last forever, less focus on having to be in a VERY specific position to do certain things, I really dig it.
  8. I think this is after the Going Under devs announced they would stop working with Team17. They announced it publicly, I wonder however many said so privately as well.
  9. There is a discount when it's on GamePass in general, yeah - I don't know if they're saying that it starts at 10% and bumps to 20% closer to release though.
  10. Lunar New Year sale puts it at 70%+ off right now.
  11. Control is on sale right now so it's the perfect time to grab it, along with the DLC before it's gone.
  12. The Bond game that they're making is a great way to work in a dialogue element in the same-ish style of game.
  13. Louie Anderson was a god damn sweetheart.
  14. I have all the time in the world for Pupperazzi right now.

Only thing that tells me is that the collisions and animations look more like the system of old than what they had going (things hopefully aren't as locked into certain things being true to see if a move "hits" or not, more variety instead of canned animations) - and that's about the only thing I got out of that.
  16. To be fair, my entire goal was to make sure Cloud got the cutest dress - so once I that part ended I was just going through the motions either way.
  17. I don't even react negatively the story changes in FF7 Remake, the thing that killed it for me was. a) The battle system and difficulty levels just made fights longer and tedious, not harder once you figured it out. I never really had fun once while fighting and I eventually put it down to easy just to get through fights moderately faster. b) For the beautiful world they built, there was almost ZERO reason to explore it. Every time you went of to explore all there was to do was to hit a box or two for minimal gain and then find an treasure box... and an Ether or Potion every time. There was rarely any real reason to explore, to go off the beaten path, to find something different than the same stretched out area that you've done before. If you walk into a new environment? Congrats, you're going to be seeing this for 3 sections in a row - because you're going to start a task, a cutscene will happen, you'll go back into an area that looks different and you'll do the same thing, another cutscene and you'll finish that area off. Everything is stretched waaaaaay too thin.
  18. Last thing in the world Iā€™d suggest is the FF7 remake, Iā€™d go for the modern console versions of the original before them by a country mile. The remake left a terrible taste in my mouth. 10 is a great shout to start with, that or 9 even.
  19. My god, I almost bought that on Switch. Well that's good to hear!
  20. Yoshi's Crafted World is an amazing co-op game, the fiancee and myself went through the whole game and got everything from every level. It's an amazingly inventive game, looks awesome and most levels are pretty short so you can pick up and play anywhere. She's pretty good at everything, but in the instance where there was a platforming she wasn't stellar at - and hell, I think she did it for me once or twice - one Yoshi and carry the other in their mouth and you can both get past the obstacle at the same time. KeyWe is also a fun game about being a couple of Kiwi birds working in a post office. There's a few common tasks, and you can turn the timed mode off if you want but it's just a neat little game that we've also been enjoying.

Knowing nothing of Chiles as well, he was our flat out favourite in that episode as well.
  23. Loving everything about this series, yeah. I was initially excited for The Mandolorian but I think I kind of petered off and dipped in and out for it. Exploring this story is waaaaaay more interesting in my books.
  24. I love the design choice they made where you can beat it and see the ending with only a portion of what you're asked to collect, and if you want more you can keep going, and if you want the really challenging levels you can seek those out as well. I think I'm due for another playthrough of that. I also loved Breath of the Wild - something else I'm due for another playthrough of sooner than later.
