  1. A bit higher res version can be found here in Quicktime format.
  2. I wouldn't make those comparisons, if only because Richard Linklater is infinitely more versatile a filmmaker than the Wachowskis. I like this return to the style he made Waking Life with; hopefully it proves a bit more successful for him.
  3. After re-reading my post, I was a little harsh, but still my main point stands. There are more bands deserving of the nod than U2. ← And there are bands already in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame less deserving as well. The Righteous Brothers anyone? At least U2 released a few timeless classics. ←
  4. I heard on Stern today that Rock had initially planned to introduce Halle Berry with the following: "Please welcome a woman who's lost more men than the Iraqi army, Halle Berry." Would have been funnier than the Catwoman 2 thing, but I think the Stern people were a bit too harsh, especially when they suggested that his hosting made them miss the Billy Crystal days.
  5. Best Dressed - Oh let's say... Salma Hayek, Emmy Rossum and for the sake of making it fair and balanced, Chris Rock. Dude looks classy in the suit. As for Worst Dressed - Hilary Swank, Renee Zellwegger (the combination of her dress and the length of her hair looked kind of odd to me) and Spike Lee. Dude just looks ridiculous.
  6. The Clawson life story. ←
  7. YES! Finally Charlie Kaufman gets some credit. Michel Gondry may have been snubbed royally for Direction, but at least he wins here.
  8. He said something along the lines of "Who the hell is Jude Law and why has he been in every movie made in the past 4 years?"
  9. Was Sean Penn actually offended by Chris Rock's joke? Even the Closer people laughed at it.

  11. "For those of you who don't speak English, believe me, it's a great song." Well if they don't speak English they don't understand what you're saying either now do they? And if they have a way of translating it, then they heard what you said in the first place. I should stop bitching and be happy Carlos Santana is breaking up the monotony. EDIT: Guess they had to give 1 to Finding Neverland. I really thought this would be Williams' though; the POA score improved immensly on the previous 2. Debney's Passion of the Christ was also the defining work of his career.
  12. Are you talking about Sidney Lumet? He is an awesome director. He deserved his little thing there. ←
  13. Forget about the Chris Rock thing, THIS is why Hollywood is out of touch with America. These Academy people love this dude, and that's wonderful. Mail him an Oscar and wish him the best. Don't waste 5 minutes on the guy, when Ossie Davis will probably get a 5 second mention in a video montage.
  14. Man, that Hippogriff alone I thought would have been enough to get POA the Oscar. Anything better than the phony looking robots in "I, Robot" I guess. Not much to say about Sideways winning Adapted Screenplay, that's an easy decision.
  15. Wow this is revolutionary. An Academy Awards host that doesn't suck. The awards have been alright so far, although Lemony Snicket for make up was odd, considering how much more the POTC people had to do. Good to see Morgan Freeman get a win, although I've yet to see Million Dollar Baby. Finally, I'm a bit bummed about Super Size Me not getting the documentary award.
  16. The Razzies suck. They stopped nominating the real cream of the crap years ago, and now just nominate the films that strike out in a big way. Sleepover, New York Minute and Cinderella Story were the worst films of 2004. Alexander, Surviving Christmas and White Chicks were bad, not horrible. Don't even get me started on the whole nominating documentary subjects in the acting categories. I know I shouldn't be taking this shit seriously, but as far as trashing shitty movies in an Award show setting, this is all we've got.
  17. I don't mind the silliness, I mind Jensen Ackles. That character has done absolutely nothing since coming to the show. Erica Durance is great, and I hope they find a way to keep her around longer, but Ackles must go, and since he just signed on to do some other show for The WB, hopefully that means he's gonna leave.
  18. Yeah I worded that confusingly, I meant that I was bummed he didn't win best first screenplay in addition to Best First Feature.
