Does anyone know if Kiefer's been confirmed for Season 5? I know they were open to killing the Bauer character, so who knows, they may have comprimised on sending him off into the sunset. It's for damn sure that they can't hope for a show centered on Curtis to be half as good.
  2. Anything Timothy Zahn wrote is pretty much a must read. "The Thrawn Trilogy" is kick ass, and after that I'd check out the "Hand of Thrawn" duology. Not sure how much pre-knowledge of the expanded universe you need (it's been a while), but those are great Luke-centric books.
  3. Buffy The Vampire Slayer - ** (4/10) Joss Whedon has said in interviews that he's learned a great deal about the movie business since making this pre-cursor to the cult hit television series "Buffy The Vampire Slayer". With his big screen directorial debut "Serenity" only four months away, let's hope so. This 1992 film was shot on a $7,000,000, most of which must have gone to the combined salaries of Luke Perry and Donald Sutherland, because none of that money can be seen reflected in the ludicrious action sequences. Kristy Swanson originates the role that Sarah Michelle Gellar would make famous 4 years later in Hollywood's bastardization of what, according to leaked versions that made its way online a couple of years ago, was a really good Joss Whedon screenplay. So bad was the version that finally made its way to the screen with director Fran Rebel Kuzui attached that when the story was finally adapted for the small screen, Whedon ignored it when writing the series and made references to plot points in the original screenplay that contradict this tripe. Even Donald Sutherland's work here isn't top shelf; I can't help but prefer Anthony Stewart Head's work later on as Rupert Giles. The only remotely bearable feature of this film are the few moments when the screenwriter's brilliance makes it past the studio buffs and this horrible mess looks just a bit better. There is nothing here that can't be found done considerably better on the TV series DVDs; only recommended to long standing Whedon fans feeling sentimental. Thumbs down.
  4. Sin City - ***1/2 (7.5/10) From Robert Rodriguez, director of some of the most innovative action films of the past two decades, comes Sin City, a relentless tail of corruption, betrayal and heroism. Starring (although not exclusively featuring) Bruce Willis as police officer Hartigan, the film intertwines several of Frank Miller's graphic novels and is shot in a style that likens Miller's work. Using a combination of CG, colors and smart camera work, the film feels like it's straight out of a comic book without being one dimensional. I really enjoyed the performances in this film, especially when the material was a bit over the top. Bruce Willis and Clive Owen's characters come off as really relatable despite their obvious qualities, and Mickey Rourke's Marv shows some fascinating qualities against insurmountable odds. While the film's more salacious themes seem to make it a more male oriented movie, there's something for everyone (provided you're not prudish) here. Thumbs up.

    Smallville

I dunno. John Glover is kind of to this show what Peter Gallagher is to "The O.C.". With him dead I don't know that the show will be the same.

    The O.C.

It'll be Imogen Heap then. Imogen Heap is half of Frou Frou.

    The O.C.

I dug this finale more than last season's (which I also thought rocked). Seeing Jimmy and Hailey again was great (the dig at Hailey's stint on "North Shore" was funny) on a sentimental level, and Josh Schwartz's writing was absolutely solid in this episode. I'm almost certain the music playing at the end was by Frou Frou, although the exact song evades me. It'll be up on the official site tommorow. All in all great episode, by far the best of season 2.
  8. There's not much to add, because I agree that Depp's amazing. One thing I disagree with is his performance in "Edward Scissorhands"; I've always thought that it was everyone else reacting to Edward that made the character work. There wasn't really much acting to be done there, except for a whole lot of brooding.
  9. Damn, I had no idea he was hurt. I thought he was just sitting out because of the questions he was getting from the press about steroid testing. Any chance this had anything to do with the juice?

  11. It's funny how the trailer breaks conventions, because the movie sure looks like it won't. Considering the fact that Craven's best work came while Regan was in office, I'd say the cast is the only thing that can save this film.
  12. Wow, hasn't this thread gone quiet ever since the Yanks started playing like the Yanks.
  13. Not since Rachael left ← Amanda Walsh was good, now Leah is the best. Either way they always have 1 "good" VJ. Besides how old is Rick, like 30 now? MTV Canada sucked though, All the good MTV shows always got here late or never anyway, and MuchMusic shows most of the better ones anyway so MTV Canada was pointless. ←
  14. MTV Canada was useless except for that one original show they ran, 969. MTV2 I liked, even though it played a bit more mainstream stuff than I'd hoped. I'm hearing MTV Canada will become a youth oriented channel, while MTV2 will become another Much clone.
