    The O.C

I didn't think that, but if they did, there would be a lot of pissed and confused fans. ←

    The O.C

Well it's a season premiere; season premieres are more about resolving the previous season's cliffhangers than introducing new ones. Overall I liked it. The whole first act had this interestingly surreal feel to it, a lot like last season's finale. The second act seemed like a bunch of vignettes thrown together, especially the fantastic 4's day at the beach. Marissa and Ryan were a bit wishy washy, but I suppose that's to be expected when one shot the other's only sibling. Jeri Ryan's character I'm not sure of; one can only hope she doesn't turn out to be another Oliver. All in all a decent season premiere; much better than "The Distance" last year.

    Harry Potter

I'm pretty sure the Voldemort part of the Harry Potter saga will be resolved within the 7th book, but whether it be through the work of others or even JK Rowling herself, the story will almost certainly be continued in some fashion.
  5. Okay, if Jackie Dressed In Cobras finished about The Jessica Numbers, then clearly Kou and others have been dropping the ball on New Pornographers listening.
  6. Coldplay? Really? You lot must suck. ←
  7. British music has been consistently at the heart of every emerging trend in rock music, with the possible exception of nu-metal in the late 90s. This isn't really anything new, but it's hard to really argue that these bands have the same cross-over appeal that bands like Blur or Oasis had. The only bands that have really found significant success across the pond in recent years are Coldplay and the Gorillaz, and perhaps the Darkness, although with only one album released, it's hard to tell whether they will have any staying power.
  8. 2004 gave us Garden State. Thus, I vote 2004.
  9. This should be a good season. They've got plenty of new territory to explore now that we're beyond "Superman: The High School Years"; perhaps a darkening in tone could help, although I've yet to hear anything about that. James Marsters in apparently at least 10 episodes would be great for any show, and he's an absolutely perfect Brainiac. http://www.kryptonsite.com/svs5poster3.jpg THIS IS GOING TO ROCK.
  10. Putting aside my reservations for the "Greatest Hits" of a band that has put out 4 albums, no. There can't be a SOAD "Greatest Hits" package without Forest. And wasn't Starlit Eyes just Serj with Snot backing?
  11. I only hope that this is the last album with Bob Rock on board. He's really put a cap on their experimentation, and considering the eclectic "Spritual Machines" is my favorite OLP record, I'm all for the experimentation. Arnold Lanni returning is the best possible thing for the band.
  12. The album just came out today, so has anybody heard it? I came in expecting absolutely nothing, and may I say, I'm surprised a bit at the results. I can say that I liked a good half of the tracks, which is more than off "Gravity". There's much less power-pop here, it's more mainstream rock, and they don't really have any songs that scream "single". "Angels Losing Sleep" is probably the weakest lead off track yet, but it's worthy of its place on the album. "Where Are You", "Wipe That Smile Off Your Face", "The World On A String", "Don't Stop" and "Al Genina (Leave A Light On)" are all songs I enjoyed, while the rest just sounds like noise to me. It's an acceptable effort, but I'm still saddened to think that this is the band that released "Naveed", "Clumsy", "Happiness" and "Spiritual Machines". Discuss.

    2005 VMA's

No, Gorillaz have been big in the States since the day "Feel Good Inc." was released after two or three years of being totally forgotten. They were nominated for stuff with Clint Eastwood four years ago as well, it's just that they didn't win then. ←
  14. Bah, I caught no more than the first 10 minutes, up until the sex scene came on, where I suddenly realised my prudish mother was in the room. Damn me and my common courtesy. I'm instead subjected to "The O.C." reruns and "Prison Break" tonight until it comes on TMN On Demand.

    2005 VMA's

I liked the "American Idiot" album and all, but seriously, MTV needs to stop shoving Green Day's atrocious music videos down our throats. "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" is an awful video, and probably the weakest song on the album.
  16. It's on The Movie Network for any prospective Canadian viewers. I intend to watch it, looks pretty good.
