  1. I understand where you're coming from, Beatnik, but Halloween does command respect among its fans in much the same way that those films do among Sinatra fans and all. Sure, it didn't win Oscars and the like but it is as memorable if not MORE memorable than those features. And I also don't agree with this decision. H-town is doing far too many remakes for their own good, and really should stop with it fast before they continue to lose audiences a la the music industry. I mean, you already say what happened with the "box office slump" of this year.
  2. Scott Schoeneweis is apparently trying to convince Jarrod Washburn to come to Toronto. They've also apparently showed interest in A.J. Burnett. Either would be kick ass additions to the lineup, although perhaps what the Jays need most at this point is some home run power.

    Clerks 2

I'm sure most Kevin Smith fans already know this but as of Monday, his latest film, "Passion Of the Clerks", is officially in production. Being the swell online friendly guy he is (he already keeps an online diary here), Kevin intends to chronicle the entire developmental process at the film's official website, which can be found here. There are already 8 videos up, as well as one production photo and 2 news updates (one confirming Rosario Dawson as the female lead, the other is a brief update from the set). Just thought I'd share this, since I know there are plenty of Askewniverse followers here. So... anyone following this?
  4. This doesn't even scratch the surface of the "worst possible remake". It's not like the original was beloved and/or rewarded like say, "The Manchurian Candidate" or "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town". At least with this movie they can modernize with top line special effects.
  5. To all of the people up in arms about the list (I guess I was guilty of this earlier), why? It's not called "The Best Bands of All Time" or even "The Best Bands of 2005", it's just "The EWB Band 100". If anything, the list serves its namesake properly by giving an idea of what people here were listening to in the past year. I suppose there's nothing wrong with lamenting people's taste, but the Jook hate seems a bit farfetched, as he pretty much delivered what the list promised.
  6. Yep, that's the Browncoat power in effect there. Bottom of the Top 50, bitches!
  7. Updated to TDK. I'm actually surprised at the popularity of The War At Home. I don't think I've seen or heard anyone else mention it so far, although I suppose being right in between The Simpsons and Family Guy would tend to earn some exposure. Only having caught it once, I thought it was funny but not really worthy of tuning in the following week.
  8. And they say the Firefly fanbase is non-existant...
  9. We actually had a decent topic about this /forum/index.php?showtopic=11045">last season, to which the general consensus was "Lost" for dramas, and "Joey" for comedies. Clearly a bad year for comedy, but dramas certainly made their impact. So with a ton of different shows having already premiered this year, instead of a poll we have a list to choose from:
  10. Episode 2 was meh, but tonight's episode was kickass. I love how they've tied this season's mystery to the last one, and along the way they're able to fit in these self-contained mysteries that only serve to push the major plot forward. I don't know how I feel about the whole Wallace's girlfried's possible infidelities plot, but whatever's going on with his mother is intriguing.
  11. Damn. "Extraordinary Girl" sounds sexcellent live. I still think to make people pay $45 to play the new material and bolt is a bit unfair.
  12. Cool to see Sinatra actually make the list for once, but it's going to be painful to watch the 50 emo/nu-metal/Brit rock bands that are ranked higher. Oh, and Green Day. That'll just fuck my shit up.
  13. Finally the Leafs take one. And how about that fucking wrist shot? Lindros is playing like the guy who was an actual commodity a couple years ago. Great work by Tellqvist between the pipes tonight, and thank God Belak and Berg settled down.
  14. so just for the record, you guys are all faggots and shootouts are the win.
