  1. FOX, because despite it's reputation for cancelling anything that's good, it still has a ton of great drama's. It also has Family Guy and American Dad, so although Arrested Development and Kitchen Confidential are on their way out, it's not devoid of good comedy either.

    Scrubs

Scrubs = The Best Show on Television. And in some finally encouraging news, it returns Tuesday January 3rd at 9pm with 2 new episodes. I get the sinking feeling that this is the final season for the show, but with Joey getting more or less canned and Will & Grace (I think) ending this season, it might get kept around just to have some comedic backing on the network. For those of you who haven't already heard, as of January NBC goes back to a 2-hour comedy block with "My Name Is Earl", "The Office", "Will & Grace" and "Four Kings", which looks like another lame attempt at making Josh Cooke a star. Anyway this return is 4 months late by logic standards, but the move to an all-comedy Thursday is encouraging for fans. As for my favorite Scrubs one-ers: [about Dr. Cox] Dr. Kelso: And I'll be damned if he doesn't disagree with everything I say just because I said it. J.D.: Sir, I don't think that's true. [Kelso turns over] Dr. Kelso: It's hotter than hell in here, Perry! Dr. Cox: Freezing! Dr. Kelso: Great coffee, though! Dr. Cox: Rat piss! Dr. Kelso: Dr. Murphy here is an incompetent suck-up! Dr. Cox: No, Bob, in fact he's one of the finest young doctors I ever had the good fortune of working with. Dr. Kelso: [to J.D] Your witness. J.D. looks over at Doug, all smiles, who's dialing the phone on the desk. J.D.: What are you doing? Doug: [excited] I'm calling my dad!!!
  3. Harry Potter 4. Seriously, documentaries are for when there's nothing cool in theatres, on TV or saved in PVR. And since that's next to never, why drop cash on one?

  5. Our Lady Peace, Saliva, Nickelback and Weezer.
  6. You're from a country where people sued McDonalds for their own idiocy of consuming fries and burgers, of course they could sue I don't think it's so much them trying to fool people more the time slot, you can't really put guns on an early morning show, it's innapropriate, besides, parents should really make sure they know what their kids are playing anyway, you can't blame computer companies for your own ignorance and lack of protection of your childrens state of mind.
  7. If anyone really needs the Sandbox mode to have all decades unlocked instead of going through the story mode, this does work, although obviously make a back up of the registry before doing anything.
  8. Well in fairness, you wouldn't be getting any of the American broadcasts of FOX in primetime since in Canada whenever a Canadian network gets the broadcast rights to a show, they show the Canadian broadcast on both channels. FOX did make an attempt to boost the ratings by placing the show's stars all over the late night map, (last year) giving it the coveted post-Simpsons slot and this year letting it lead off an evening of programming. The audience wasn't there, it's as simple as that.
  9. It sucks that both shows are ending, but at this point no one can blame it on FOX (the usual knee jerk reaction in such situations). FOX stuck by AD in two consecutive years when the numbers just didn't work, and despite two consecutive Emmy windfalls and plenty of promotion, the numbers just didn't go up. I'd also suggest that Kitchen Confidential got a more than fair shot, paired in between the network's Emmy golden child and one of it's hottest new show. It didn't even hold a good portion of AD's tiny audience. Both shows came in up against the wall anyways, because their timeslot goes to House in January, and 24 moves to the 9pm slot.
  10. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. Here's hoping there's enough distinction between fans of Smallville and fans of the O.C. that Smallville's rating will be as solid as ever.

    The O.C

Oh please don't let them go down the generic villain route with Taylor Townsend. They already went generic surfer kids with Marissa's new friends who, from my perspective, add absolutely nothing to the show. They dumped out on the Dean in 4 episodes, Charlotte's already the villain du jour, why go down that road with Taylor? She's easily the most interesting character on the show right now; can't they come up with a new character arc? Anyway my own personal reservations aside, it was a good enough episode. On the adult side of things, I like the idea that Sandy's actually going to have something to do this season, and I can't wait until Julie turns on Charlotte. I do see Sandy's new co-partner turning villain within after a few episodes though. As for the youngins, Ryan had absolutely the best moment of the episode with his sarcastic reaction to Taylor towards the beginning. My reservations about Marissa's latest storylines are obvious, but if they don't completely fuck up the Seth-Summer-Taylor thing (like they fucked up the Seth-Summer-Anna thing a few years ago), it could be great. Plenty of good, plenty of bad with this one. [/tangent] So... thoughts?
  12. If this is his "retirement" song, it's even more special considering how weak "Encore" was. He definitely goes out on top; this is one of the best songs he's released to date.
  13. If there's any generous philanthropists out there, buying the whole lot and destroying it to prevent future Vincent Gallo's would be much appreciated.
  14. Fucking hell. Sens AREN'T dirty. Sens AREN'T overpayed. Sens AREN'T a bunch of assholes. Sens ARE kicking many different kinds of ass this year. Somewhere in my Leafs-loving, Sens-hating mind, whatever it is that controls logic is weeping right now.

    Best Episodes?

A couple examples off the top of my head: - "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" has a ton of really good self-contained episodes that can be enjoyed by non-fans. "Once More With Feeling" is sort of a satire of the musical films of the 50's and 60's, "The Body" is a perfect example of toned down film making to hammer home a point, and "Hush" is amazing if only for how much they were able to do without the aid of verbal communication. - "Scrubs" has "My Screwup", which is perhaps the best example I've ever seen of a comedy series combining the usual comedic hijinks with gutting drama. - "The O.C." has "The Rainy Day Women", which is proof that really intriguing TV can be done on networks and still be aimed at teenagers. - "Lost's" "Walkabout" is about as gutwrenching as television gets, and made Locke an instant favorite (not to mention probably warranting his Emmy nomination this past September).
  16. Ach scheise. I stopped watching when it got to 5-0. The Sens are the better team this year, there's absolutely no doubting that. I'd say Belfour played like shit but honestly, who's exempt from that on the team tonight? Horrible effort by the Leafs, but one hell of a game from Heatley so far tonight.
  17. The funny thing is, most people thinking this is alright would probably be appalled if a white person tried to utilize some of the provisions of affirmative action for his/herself. Women are on a pound per pound basis as strong as men, but the problem is that there aren't a multitude of 6 feet tall, 170 pound women running around the tour. There's no need for this particular idiot to play in this particular tournament, other than to make a moot point about some hollow sense of male superiority. Here's hoping that if he plays, they lay him to waste.
