  1. I actually liked "Heavier Things", so I definitely need to check this one out too. Shame it had to debut on a week that saw JT's album release, although I doubt a #1 is that big a deal for him considering how in he is with the housewife crowd.

It's nothing special. It's thinly written, excruciatingly slow paced and so far the only character I can be even moderately intrigued by is Virginia Madsen's seemingly ex-con housewife. It was fun enough to watch next week, but about the time "Chaiyya Chaiyya" came on I was reminded of a much better heist project, Spike Lee's "Inside Man", and I realised that movies definitely do crime better than TV.
  3. Anything that excludes Pierre McGuire is clearly shit. That guy's awesome.
  4. The Last Kiss - 5.5/10 A very marginal fail from me. It's got some really interesting points, the cast is great and the ending is really strong. I just don't know that I can get behind a film that I hated for about 40 minutes. Tony Goldwyn's direction, as artsy as it may appear, is incredibly vapid and pretentious. Paul Haggis' script isn't an outright liability, but it's definitely less than the level of his other recent efforts. Braff should have directed; it might have gave the project what it needed to get over that hump, but it's just not here.

  6. Sufjan Stevens - Greetings From Michigan: The Great Lake State is growing on me. Before I was just all about Illinois and Seven Swans, but this one is sort of the happy medium between the two. Detroit, Lift Up Your Weary Head! is so awesome.
  7. How about those Leafs? Really, the seasons where you start by getting booed off the ice are always the best seasons.
  8. Apparently the first Maddox comic was released on the 14th. Anyone read it yet? I've heard mixed reviews for the book, hopefully this one is more universally awesome.
  9. Corner Gas - "Hair Comes The Judge" - 7/10 Solid start. The bits with Oscar and the car were ace. How I Met Your Mother - "Where We Were" - 7.5/10 All sorts of solid TV this week. Barney's rant to start the show was classic, and it was great when Ted finally snapped on Marshall. The Class - "Pilot" - 6/10 It was alright first time I saw it, still good. Lizzy Caplan is great. Hopefully it stays consistent. Prison Break - "Map 1213" - 6/10 Better than last week. The Tancredi storyline needs to go somewhere fast though.
  10. Have they even mentioned Haywire yet? He's gotta have a big role upcoming for them to keep him offscreen this long. Decent episode; better than last week if nothing else.
  11. They should wait it out and maybe after three seasons the numbers will spike like Entourage. And if they don't, well at least we got 3 seasons. >_>
  12. Okay that was pretty cool. Barney's rant at the start of the show was classic, and I'm glad that they haven't made Ted and Robin lame by putting them together.
  13. Nanook Of the North Look at the funny indian and laugh!
  14. Has Degrassi ever done a non-"Very Special Episode" before? They're all like that.
  15. The pilots I've seen, from best to worst: 1. The Black Donnellys 2. Studio 60 3. Raines 4. The Singles Table 5. Standoff 6. The Class 7. Jericho 8. The Nine 9. Runaway 10. Happy Hour 11. Men In Trees 12. Justice 13. Friday Night Lights 14. Vanished 15. Til Death And a bit of news, since I don't think it's worthy of its own topic but doesn't fit anywhere else: for everyone who's seen The Singles Table, Pascale Hutton, the doctor, has been replaced in her role by Alicia Silverstone. This better not ruin the show, because the original pilot, led solely by John Cho, was awesome.
