  1. HIMYM is all kinds of awesome this year. I thought last week's was better than this week's, but both great nonetheless. Ted's boss waiting for the laugh > *.
  2. I loved it. Ringo loved it. Hell, even Fitzy loved it. Great record, everyone must check out. Best tracks are FlyPaper and Valhalla.
  3. Marie Antoinette - 8/10 Sofia Coppola makes this film what it is. It's not just her mix of neo-realist dialogue and yet surreal historical interpretations, nor is it her playful camera work, or her 80's new wave-heavy musical taste. It's the mixture of all three that makes what could have been a pleasureless expose about bourgeois excess into a stimulating and sympathetic portrayal of a young couple born into expectations too great and with too little preparation. There's something about the aerie asthetic of 1980's New Wave that fits sublimely with the vain pretensiousness of the 18th century French Aristocracy, and it serves to disarm the viewer while Coppola subtlely mocks its lunacy. Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman are tailor made for their roles, and are rounded out by a strong supporting cast that includes Judy Davis, Rip Torn, Molly Shannon, Shirley Henderson, Danny Huston, Steve Coogan, Rose Byrne (*drools*) and Asia Argento (ditto). I'm happy to say that, while it may not live up to the lofty expectations of as sharp a film as Coppola's previous work Lost In Translations, Marie Antoinette is definitely a keeper.
  4. I have nothing against his being gay, and give him credit for coming out into the open. But being on Grey's Anatomy? That's unforgivable.
  5. Lost - "Further Instructions" - 8/10 No following for me. Awesome is awesome. >_>
  6. Malmsteen isn't, but he's hilarious so I vote for him. YOU UNLEASHED THE FUCKING FURY!
  7. If he had shot the guy then, the plot device of him having to "clean up his mess" wouldn't have been as effective. He didn't clean up that mess so, there was also guilt driving him to clean up this one.... I say "also" because the island was driving him to do it.

  9. 1. The New Pornographers 2. Dropkick Murphys 3. System Of a Down
  10. It was great tonight. The more Locke the better, and then you had Ekko mauled by the bear and Desmond with his eyes all shining like the su.... I'm not attracted to Desmond I'm attracted to his... I'm not attracted to Desmond. >_>
  11. Joanne is legitimately hotter than that tranny porn star.
  12. Maybe I shouldn't have bumped this, yet here we are. Of course it certainly doesn't deserve a new topic. I'd just like to point out that two months to the date after I said this:
  13. Fuck you, Neko Case + Ed Begley Jr + "Maybe Noam Chomsky's reading the Havana phonebook" = Awesomest episode of the season.
  14. I'm sure you were thinking the same thing last year. Just because emo can be good, don't be a bitch.
  15. Did you try political punk bands ala Bad Religion, Pennywise etc.? Pennywise > *.
  16. Tom Jeter > * Another great episode. Too bad the ratings don't come near being worth the 3 million per episode price tag. Now if they could slash the budget and still be good, maybe...
  17. Don't worry, you and every other thirteen year old girl will have forgotten about emo by this time next year.
  18. Leonard Cohen - "Songs Of Love And Hate" Amazing from start to finish.
  19. If Haggard are power metal, they're clearly must hear.
  20. Casablanca - 9/10 The most quotable movie ever.
  21. Battlestar Galactica - "Exodus Part One" - 8/10 BG is seriously a bulletproof show. This episode was pretty much par for the course, but even when it's off it's still amazing. My only complaint is that Starbuck was on screen today for what, a minute? Hopefully she plays a bigger role in "Part Two".
  22. 500th goal, short handed, overtime hat trick winner? Could they add some guys on his back to make the goal a little more dramatic?
  23. Little Big Man - 8/10 One of the more legitimate and earnestly funny satire films you'll ever see.
