  1. The CW sucks, but VM's ratings suck despite a dream pairing. What do you expect them to do to bring the numbers up when people are seemingly going out of their way to not watch? And if there's no final arc, blame Rob Thomas. It's not like some suit in CW corporate is writing the storylines.

I just see Braff as a TV guy. He just doesn't scream "LEAD ACTOR" in films to me.

Yeah I think this episode was the turning point in my mind with regards to the possibility of a 7th season. If they can pull this off, they can pull off one more good season. Great stuff, I noticed homages/parodies of "Les Miserables", "Grease" and "RENT" in there. Anybody pick out the other ones?
  4. Alpha Dogs - 4/10 This just felt like a big story told by an incapable cast and crew. Some of the actors give way over the top performances, while absurd action sequences and cliched dialogue gives one pause to consider the "based on a true story" tag as something to be taken VERY lightly. Ben Foster is great, Justin Timberlake is good, but this really isn't a worthwhile adaptation of what was really an intriguing story.
  5. I felt this was bumpworthy:
  6. Tool - 10,000 Days I never gave Tool a chance, but I like this album.
  7. It's odd, because I only agreed with 6 of the winners based on the nominees (Best Actor Comedy, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Animated Film, Lead Actor in a Comedy Series), and yet I can't be that upset because Scorsese won for Director. Of course he's won GG's before, so it's all about getting over the Oscar hump. Biggest snubs: Borat for Comedy, The Departed for Drama, Will Smith for Actor Drama, The Office in Comedy Series and 24 in Drama Series. Also, Children of Men and Jackie Earle Hailey not getting nominations is absolutely crazy. And the Hugh Laurie speech > Borat's. So was Tom Hanks' tribute to Warren Beatty.
  8. *EMMY SPOILERS* 24 WINS KIEFER SUTHERLAND WINS ALL OTHER SHOWS BASK IN THEIR INFERIORITY Make no mistake about it, that was the best hour of TV you'll see this year. Awesome moral relativism, awesome acting and the biggest holy shit ending of anything in years.
  9. The Who - Quadrophenia Pure awesome.
  10. In two hours, Jack has two of his most bad ass kills yet. This is going to be a great season.
  11. But...it's exactly the same as the Who's version. The film looks decent actually, and the song does go well with it...but still.
  12. It was recorded for this movie, and the song is completely awesome in the context of the trailer. The Who's version is still better though.
  13. Happily N'Ever After - 3/10 Man, what a different outlook on 2007 I would have had if I'd seen this one first. Somebody has to tell the Weinsteins that throwing a bunch of celebrities into a film and then dogging the rest of the process does not produce a worthwhile flick. This movie has basically video game calibre animation, "Yes, Dear" calibre humour and all the originality of a bad remake. Apparently the kids seem to like this one, but unfortunately kids aren't paying for the tickets.
  14. Both of those are really gimmicky though, so I don't really think they encompass everything awesome about the show. It's hard to say which is best, but I'd definitely go with one of the more "normal" ones, albeit the most well excecuted of those. Definitely something with Spike... and Anya/Xander.
  15. Rockafeller is indeed great. "Sorry I wasted y'all bitches time" Gary teaching Louis about sex while "Shock The Monkey" plays is also great. Another great episode.
  16. Rocky Balboa - 7.5/10 This was the ending to the saga fans were denied with "Rocky V". Like the other films in the series it is awesome escapist fantasy grounded by a very loveable working class hero, and not since the first film has his plight been so sympathetic. His fight, this time more against the clock than an opponent, is something that we, no matter what age, can identify with. Like fans of the series, Rocky Balboa wanted one last great outing, and he got it. Good performances (aside from Milo Ventimiglia, who should now quit acting for sucking up the screen of our Rocky closure), a modern perspective and refreshed aspirations make this a return to the form of the first two films.
