  1. Alright, I just came across this at the Superhero Hype Boards, and I'm not sure of it's accuracy, but it certainly does well to explain why Welling has yet to be cast: Source. The reason I haven't completely written this off is that it makes perfect sense. While it seems pretty suspicious of the person to call themselves one of the top Interactive Entertainment reporters in Canada, but the writings ooze professionalism. I hope this is true, because it represents hope for: a) Smallville not being over within a year, or B) them doing Superman right (Rosenbaum and Welling).
  2. I think the plan to film at the end of this year is rather unlikely, especially since there's absolutely no one cast yet. Hopefully they'll wait to see how Erica Durance turns out on Smallville as Lois, and if all goes well try to expand the TV series into movies, sans the pink one of course. She's good looking and not a bad actress, but Lana had best be out of the picture if they want 14 year old girls buying the Lois-Clark thing.
  3. Oh well. The difference between Radiohead and Metallica is that while both of them have been struggling for the past several years, at least Radiohead has released something good in the past decade. I don't really agree with most of this list, but it doesn't make sense to expect more out of a popularity contest.

    Jimmy Fallon

Tina Fey is the best part of Weekend Update, so not a big loss in that department. However, a lot of SNL's funniest skits were based around Fallon, so I have a feeling season 29 or whatever it is is going to be a bit of a dive. Even worse, with Kenan Thompson's growing star, I highly doubt he'll be around too long either. SNL's approaching some more of them lean years.
  5. Source. Someone needs to rip Welling's head out of his ass before they give the role to an unworthy actor. He probably doesn't want to be typecast, but I highly doubt Christopher Reeve is walking the pogey. 20 years later he's still geting residuals. Tom Welling is the only person out there that could play Superman right now IMO, unless you want to bring back Dean Cain . Discuss this sudden glimmer of hope for a mostly disappointing developmental process to Superman Returns.
  6. Unfortunately the Batmobile does fit the movie, which fits most DC comics perfectly; completely colorless, one dimensional and devoid of emotion. Somebody get the Smallville/Spiderman 2 people on this right away.
  7. Friday - 6/10 Bleh. Thumbs up, but not nearly as funny as I thought it would be.
  8. I know tons...but they are Mormons. (They are out there somewhere) But I almost didn't recommend Saved right off the bat because it is totally against anyone that believes in God right up until the final 5 minutes or so when it almost has to backpedal and say "Hey, you know what? Believe what you want to believe".....I did give it *** though. What can I say? It was funny as hell to me. ← Alright, I'll be more specific, I've never seen a Baptist that phony and prejudiced. I'll say there were a few really funny moments, but I thought that even as a satire it was rather one dimensional, and that the humour isn't really biting at all. To me it's too bad that Mandy Moore's first really good performance was wasted on an almost charmless film. In other words, I shouldn't have stopped watching after 5. Shit. Guess I'm off to the rentals again.
  9. Eddie Van Halen - Eruption As a consolation prize, most of Yngwie Malmsteen's Gimme Gimme Gimme is full of beautiful shreddery, ditto for Satriani's Circles.
  10. Not true. The Simple Life isn't great. Guess I'd be more concerned if I was a viewer, but Canada doesn't get FX.
  11. Saved! - 4/10 For all the heat that movie companies take for racial stereotyping, this movie proves that they don't do very well at majorities on screen either. Saved is a scathing critique (almost a hatchet job) on Christianity which makes almost no attempt to specify between orthodox and modernized Christianity; choosing to open fire on any Christ follower in sight. I've never met a single Christian in my life as phony and prejudiced as Hilary Faye (played really quite well by Mandy Moore), yet Brian Dannelly seems to think that her type represents the majority. Of course, the more enlightened non-Christians are able to alert us to the error of our ways by the end, and of course Hilary Faye apologises for all the bad things she's done, choosing to take her anger out on Jesus instead. This is Hollywood, remember, it's the Jesus movies that get ravaged, not the anti-Jesus ones. Thumbs down.
  12. The Replacements - 6/10 So much more fun than I remembered. Favs, Orlando Jones and a surprisingly compitent comedic performance by Keanu Reeves make this completely watchable. I'd point out however that it could have done with being 20 minutes or so shorter. 2 hours is too long for a sports comedy. Thumbs up though.
  13. The Passion of The Christ - 8.5/10 I've seen this film 3 times now, and in each rewatch I enjoy the film no less than before. What must be understood here is that this is a film to be mostly enjoyed by Christians, because the real beauty of it is in the subtext: the altruistic sacrifice of Jesus' own life so we may be given eternal life. Without that it's perhaps little more than a gore fest, but with it the most contraversial movie of the year is also one of the best. Thumbs up, and look out for the DVD August 31st.
  14. Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle - 6.5/10 In this film, John Cho and Kal Penn, two career "B" actors come together in a story that challenges movie racial stereotypes without being preachy in any way. Instead, this is a vibrantly funny comedy that has more than enough bite to leave the audience feeling entirely fullfilled. John Cho is perhaps the better of the two; his deadpan to scenery chewing mix of delivery is fantastic. It's great to see a movie told from the real underdog's perspective, taking a real hard look at the characters usually saved for cameo roles. Thumbs up.
  15. Super Size Me - 9/10 Hey big woman, you made a fat boy outta me... I think the best part of this movie is its impactfulness. Sure Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine (both very noteable and successful documentaries) made a mark on the mainstream, they weren't nearly as powerful. Perhaps it's the barrage of statistics (that are not partisan in any way), but I think it's rather the fact that this documentary touches on a timely and important issue in modern western society. Obesity is the cause of more deaths than any of the President's overseas ambitions, and it's about time a documentary is made with its priorities in check. Big thumbs up, and check out the DVD when it's released on September 28th.
  16. Super Size Me is head and shoulders above any other documentary I've ever seen. It's both funny, frightening (from a reality standpoint) and informative. It also helps that it's so even handed.
  17. I only dislike Issues, Untouchables and Take A Look In The Mirror. However, 3 albums in a row that I dislike (and were generally disliked) seem to speak volumes about the direction the band's career is headed in.
  18. So in other words, seniority keeps people hoping Korn's music will stop sucking at some point? Sounds like a corrupt union.
  19. Are you kidding me? When I went, there were more people there to see KoRn than Linkin Park. KoRn is a huge fucking draw, they could have just as easily headlined this tour over LP. ← Uh-uh. Guess that explains why Linkin Park's latest album has sold 3 million more copies than Korn's.
  20. There's absolutely no way that they'd do a poster for the film without 'Episode III' or 'Revenge of the Sith' or even both written on it. I think having Vader on the poster is almost a given, but I highly doubt he'll be exclusively featured.
  21. I think Linkin Park should finally cut Korn's strings, tour wise. They really aren't much of a draw anymore, and their music has certainly lost its touch. I don't get while they bring a guy like Snoop on tour and not Jurassic 5, especially after they worked with Chali on their remix album. Come to think of it, I'd prefer The Roots and Jurassic 5 (both appeared on that Reanimated) to Snoop anyday of the week.
  22. The whole time watching this, I was thinking 'PG Film Trapped in an R Rated One'. It's a whole lot of cheesy kid gags, but with cursing.
  23. I would... if you were meeting up in Toronto. I got tickets to a couple of the ACC games, although I'd at that it most certainly did NOT cost 60 bucks for both games. More like 60 per, although I guess with Toronto its always twice as expensive.
  24. I dig three bands on this album: Sugarcult, Flogging Molly and Foo Fighters. I've never thought of any of them as being remotely political. At least Volume 1 had Pennywise. Think I'll avoid this one.
