  2. a rapper who is actually a pretty decent actor. Hes been nominated for a Golden Globe and an Emmy(I think) for his role in HBO's movie Something the Lord Made. Hes also been in The Italian Job, Brown Sugar, and Monster's Ball. ←
  3. They are using a tried and true premise, with strong support in many areas of the film with guys like Smith and Bruckheimer on board. Look at Armageddon for examples of this. Should he be able to wield the "Affleck Touch" on this one, this will speak greatly about his talent...and I use greatly to denote volume, not quality. ←
  4. Most of the movies I'm looking forward have already been mentioned, but Wedding Crashers and Kicking and Screaming both look hilarious. I'm sure some other movies will pop into my head later.
  5. I agree with you that the film was too long, but in the end I thought it was engaging enough from a character perspective. The director does his job to speed up the film, and the characters envoke the real responses. 7/10 from me.

  7. Closer - ****1/2 (8.5/10) I've got something planned for my top ten movies so I won't go too in depth with this, but suffice to say, brilliant and delightfully evil. Completely the opposite of what I went in expecting. Thumbs way up.
  8. I always thought of The Punisher as the kind of film that started slow and really picked up towards the end, albeit taking too long to do so. Tom Jane wasn't bad, but he didn't really convey the emotions The Punisher ought to be feeling, or at the very least supressing. I believe it got 5/10 from me also. As for the other films so far, I gave Walking Tall 5.5/10 and The Life Aquatic 7/10.
  9. If you liked the stage show of "Phantom" the film is an awesome adaptation. If not, Garden State is one of the best films of last year.
  10. Wow, good first five minutes. 2 penalties. Dionne Phaneuf is a beast though.
  11. I don't hate Fred Durst, he's more comic relief than villain. I don't even mind Limp Bizkit's music, but isn't Fred Durst going after posers kind of like OJ hunting down the "real" killer?

  13. If by win, you mean come dead last, then yes. How can a nation that is nearly universally despised, win a 'popularity' contest? Just because you know what kind of car someone drives or what they like to eat for breakfast in the morning doesnt mean you like them. ←
  14. Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events - ***1/2 (7/10) "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" is directed by Brad Siberling ("Casper") and features stars such as Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep, Louis Guzman, Catherine O'Hara and the narration of Jude Law. It tells the story of three children (Emily Browning, Liam Aiken, Kara and Shelby Hoffman) who are orphaned when their parents die in a car crash, only to be put in the care of Count Olaf (Jim Carrey), a psychopathic D-grade actor who tries to kill then in order to gain their inheritance. Even as they run from him, he pursues them and sabotage's their efforts. Can they escape Olaf's clutches and live a perfectly normal, fortunate life? This is a movie that's hard to comment on much because it doesn't really have any strengths or weaknesses. It's a well written, well made and well directed film. There's nothing specifically excellent about it, other then perhaps its consistency. It is very watchable though. If there's one thing I can say, it is that this isn't really a children's movie, especially if you take into account the dark themes or tense moments. Alas, Jim Carrey bat 1.000 this year. Thumbs up.
