  1. I would rather listen to Ashlee Simpson than Puddle of Mudd. The Ashley hate is really getting so out of hand it's making me like her. At least she tries and while she may only be famous because of her sister, at least she's not famous because of Fred fuckin' Durst. ← No, she's famous because of Jessica fuckin' Simpson. At least LB had one good album. ←
  2. I guess I missed that part, could you please fill me in. ←

  4. People have to remember that it's the Family Guy staff without Garrett Donovan, Neil Goldman, Rickey Blitt and Chris Sheridan. Goldman and Donovan may have left after season 2, but Blitt and Sheridan are really the driving force behind Family Guy (except for Seth obviously). That's 4 top tier writers who aren't involved, so expecting Family Guy calibre comedy was a bit presumptuous. As the show stands, it was funny. I still can't get over the fact that no one's mentioned the Boy Meets World reference yet.
  5. Shaun of the Dead - **** (8/10) No less funny the second time around. I did notice the cameo by Martin Freeman this time around though, which I missed on first viewing.
  6. Your grandmother's a damned hippy. As for records you should buy there are two obstacles: 1) It's ridiculously hard to find specific records these days since a good deal of the vinyl trade happens at garage sales. 2) Why would you not just buy CD versions? I understand the vintage thing, but for people who actually like to listen to music, it would make sense to prefer the remastered versions. However if you must, Ozzy Osbourne. Then you can play it backwards and look for satanic messages.
  7. Awh fuckin' yes. Another Frou Frou fan on the board. B) ←
  8. Sideways - **** (8/10) Sideways is a novel adaptation by Alexander Payne, the mind behind Election and About Schmidt, and feels alot like Swingers with heart. The film takes place in wine country California and follows two men named Miles and Jack (played by Paul Giamatti and Thomas Hayden Church) as they go on one last road trip before Jack walks down the aisle. I'll clue you in on a little secret: it's not about the plot, but the characters. Paul Giamatti is absolutely flawless in the lead role, and after 2 consecutive years of Oscar snubs, one wonders if the Academy has it out for him. Thomas Hayden Church is also excellent in that he is able to make his character entirely sympathetic while not stealing Miles' thunder. The two leading ladies are lovely, although one would gravitate towards Virginia Madsen when heaping praise upon the supporting cast. The writing us superb, and with pure talent on board to transform the script to screen so well, it's no wonder that the film has become 2004's critical darling. Thumbs up.
  9. "GoodGodWhizzle! See You In Tokyo Biznitch! This is me, 24-7... or wheneva Im active enough ta update it. www.goodgodwhatabeatnik.tk/ - 1k - Cached - Similar Pages" I'm in love with a search engine. Is there something wrong with that?
  10. Microsoft is insane to develop this on their own. They had a bevy of film studios vying to develop the movie, and because of their own arrogance, this will almost certainly be a flop.
  11. Equilibrium - **** (8/10) Kurt Wimmer's second directorial feature Equilibrium was lost in the post-9/11 shuffle of the movie industry that looked to make more heartwarming and uplifting epics rather than slick dark action pictures. And in their defence, there isn't too much in this movie that breaks the mold. It's kind of Fahrenheit 451 meets The Matrix meets The Giver on crack. The same old questions of personal freedoms are asked, and like The Giver, the emphasis on emotions is present. What makes the film work is spectacle, mainly the marvelous spectacle of realising that a film like this could have been made for roughly $20 million. The performances are sufficient, I guess, because the characters are underwritten in favour of the almighty action sequence, but with this film it works flawlessly. I felt drawn into the plight of the lead character John Preston (Christian Bale) because instead of focusing on human melodrama, Wimmer allows the circumstances to speak for themselves, and once such a reality is presented it is only natural to cheer for the protagonist. Purposeful underwriting allow an emphasis on the spectacle, and it pays off in spades for this film. Thumbs up.
  12. This is quite a bump, but it's not worth a new topic:
  13. Speaking of the Freaks and Geeks people, after Life As We Know It was cancelled, apparently they're behind the new Jennifer Love Hewitt comedy "In the Game". It might surprise us and be good, but after "Time of Your Life", do you really expect much?

Can someone explain how Ramon didn't die when the fake virus blew up? I thought I remember him dying, and this site seems to agree with me.
  15. I thought The Mountain was reasonably amusing melodrama. The acting was more "charming" then "good", but what the hell else was I going to do? Read?
  16. And you do realise that neither the cast or crew of The Mountain had anything to do with Angel getting cancelled right?
