  1. I think it's going to be Bottas due to the medium tyres, once he gets past these three he'll be able to defend the rest of the race. EDIT: Silly me, I should have known better than to expect Bottas to actually make something of his advantage.
  2. On a couple of occasions when he's won, usually very soon after he's been described as a second driver at Mercedes, his post-race radio message has been "to whom it may concern, fuck you". The first time was funny, the second time was "heh, he said that again. Cool." He has no grounds for a third time after this season. This race has been a thousand times better than yesterday, almost as if they're not trying as hard during a sprint race that means very little.
  3. The worst case scenario is Bottas winning and doing his "to whom it may concern" bullshit when he's done nothing all season. Ricciardo, Leclerc or Norris winning would be fantastic.
  4. Well that is quite an incident. It's yours to lose Danny Ric!
  5. Playing every round including qualifiers without dropping a set is just incredible. And now she's singing Sweet Caroline.
  6. Set and 5-2 up! Not sure what Fernandez is complaining about, there's blood pouring out of her knee, seems like a valid medical concern.
  7. These two seem to be so evenly matched. I think this could end up being a long one.
  8. I hated the concept before it started and haven't changed my mind. But hearing Ross Brawn saying how exciting the Monza sprint race is before its even started is a clear sign that it isn't going away.
  9. So the driver who had the third fastest time in qualifying and finished second in the sprint race is on pole position. F1 sure does love to be unnecessarily confusing.
  10. The final test is cancelled because India can't field a team, despite all the players in the squad having negative COVID tests. In unrelated news, the IPL starts up again in 9 days. They've also seemingly somehow got away with not forfeiting the match.

I think the New Years Special (along with contestants like Richard Osman and Mel Giedroyc) was proof that the format doesn't need people defined as comedians to be on a full series to make it successful and entertaining. With that in mind, I don't think they could ever run out of potential contestants.
  12. Harry scores in his 15th consecutive qualifying game, he's rather good.
  13. Yup. She's also now the #1 ranked British woman after playing two major tournaments.
  14. Lewis vs. George should be great. Just watch now though as the Williams 2022 car becomes the dominant entry, with world champion Nicholas Latifi.
  15. And Raducanu has just absolutely steamrolled her way into the quarter finals. She still hasn't dropped a set in the tournament. She's 18. She's unreal.
  16. It's really weird that their choreographing these announcements to make it look like Bottas is opting to join Alfa Romeo, and Mercedes are "filling the vacancy" by bringing George in. I assume it's being done to protect Valtteri, but nobody is ever going to think anything other than he's being replaced.
  17. Jorginho has missed another penalty, and we've only finished with a draw against Switzerland for 2 points in 2 games. Dominated both games but finishing seems to be a real issue. Still, in 5 days we'll be 3 years undefeated, which is nice. Brazil are playing a training session game to keep the fans entertained, and apparently it's better than most normal games.
  18. I mean it took me thirty seconds to confirm that Lo Celso was on the bench for Spurs 8 days ago, so if that's true it's one of the most easily disprovable lies in history.
  19. It's all kicking off in the Brazil/Argentina qualifier, not between the players, but between the health officials and match officials. They want to detain the four Argentinian players who play in England for not quarantining after entering Brazil. Apparently the police are also involved. This all started after match had been going for 10 minutes.
  20. Zandvoort seems like a very nice race track to drive on, but a terrible track to watch a race on. Like Monte Carlo, if Monte Carlo was a very nice track to drive on.
  21. These idiots and their flares. They should postpone the race until its clear, just to serve them right.
  22. Emma Raducanu is surely going to be something special. She just tore through the world #41 6-0 6-1 to reach the last 16 in her first US Open.
  23. I find it very difficult to understand what the thinking behind that was. I wonder if Seb's willingness to stick his neck out to support worthy causes is ruffling feathers, because his driving has been superb recently.
